Got an IPod for Christmas as a gift

Special Edition U2 IPod no less and I will not consider selling it.......I just don't do that with gifts ever.

So what else can this do besides function as a Super Walkman? I thought about an MP3 player for jogging, but 64MB would have been fine......like hell am I gonna strap a $350 hard drive on my wrist for some beats while I run.

But that's all that you can do with it. It's a mini jukebox. Hope you enjoy your music 😀.

I always use mine when working out, it makes my workoutsw much better. I like to play some hatebreed and I swear it at least gives me another 10% of strength 😉

get an Itrip and listen to it easily in the car. Got that for my g/f (no tape or aux in for her stereo), i was very surprised at how well it works. (for an fm transmitter) Way better signal than regular FM radio.

I just got a Pogo RipDrive, it rocks but it's definately a bit big to be running with. If you're on a treadmill just rest it in the cupholders... I've got mine piped into my car cd player now (front aux input for the time being, gonna wire it to the rear when the weather gets nicer)

Oh, and that's one heckuva present.

i got one too (the regular white one)

so far i like it a lot better than the dell dj. i'm not an apple fan, but itunes is a great program. I've tried too many programs to keep all my music files in order, and it does the best job of organizing them and letting me group them by my rating.

Plus, isn't this a hard drive with a swing arm and disks inside and everything? You don't really want to be shaking something like that up. Now an smartmedia MP3 player, who cares....there's no moving parts.

Yeah, I wouldnt think you'd be wanting to shake it around either... although I dont think it's AS fragile as a normal PC hard drive, I dont think I'd wanna shake it like a fiend

get an armband. i use mine to go jogging and it never skips. even on the treadmill, you can just use the belt clip and it won't skip. the shock protection on it is pretty good.

Thanks for the tip about the iTrip. Looks pretty cool.

I also heard you can get audio books on iTunes for a couple bucks. Do they have lots of older novels?

On exercising with it - my concern wouldn't be skipping, but that hard drives aren't meant to be shaken. A lot of people claim to exercise with it and to have no problems, but I'd like to hear how it has worked out in a year or two. Much better idea, imo, to get a $20 flash-based player to exercise with. Anyway, personally I wouldn't be caught dead with a regular ipod, much less the even tackier u2 version; I'd sell it and get a real player. If you go with a budget player, you could spend the extra cash on some Shure ec2s to go with it, as most all digital players come with garbage phones (some Rios do come with Senn buds though).
