Got a Wireless Router

Assuming you dont want to spend $$$ on a power amplifier, sure. Is there a RP-SMA connector on the back for the antenna? Buy a extension cable and attach your own antenna. There are lots of aftermarket antennas you can buy ( probably some from the router manufacturer and others ). The antenna will boost range in a direction(s) but you will lose range in others.

possibly, and this is some really bad advice, you can try feeding the router a volt or two higher then its rated for. not sure if it will work but thats what you can do with those peice of crap RF transmitters they sell. the ones that only go about 6ft can normally be boosted for 50 or so...

No answer from me.
🙁:shocked::roll:

the best way to get more coverage out of your wireless network....

buy another AP

oh, and realize that adding an external antenna connected to a cable causes some signal LOSS (.5Dbi per connector, iirc)

Well if you were thinking more about networking instead of "Uber" equipment you could just get repeaters to boost your signal area, but that would be a networking response

OKOK,, Here's what I'm looking for, I have time + money to spend on buying "Stuff" to build a dish on my roof, And I want coverage with something like a mile radius

you might be able to broadcast a mile (I have folks on my wireless net that are nearing the 7-9 mile range) but you need special equipment to talk BACk to that AP that far away, your laptop won't do it...The only way to get good client usable wireless one mile is to build a good, centrally controlled mesh network of multiple AP's and to use seamless roaming options, such as CCKM Fast Roaming used in Cisco Aironet stuff.

Do you have a few dollars to spend on this?
