you need to talk to an indiana traffic attorney and see if they have any advice

once got a ticket in a tourist town and the local traffic attorney had a thing worked out with the court to change the speeding ticket to a non-moving violation that had the same fee but no points

obviously that was a special circumstance, but the point remains, talk to an indiana attorney and see what they can do for you

Won't they charge me like 100$ just for the "legal advice". I hear the word attorny or lawyer and I shit myself . Never talked to one, not sure how I'm supposed to. It happened in Miami County (Peru, IN), am I supposed to research a good traffic attorny in that area?

Alright, I got classes for the next 5 hours so I'll call tomorrow and try to get some more information/leads.

I called in today, they still don't have the ticket available. She did say however given the details that I am eligible for the deferral program. This will keep me from paying the ticket and getting the points. However I have to pay an approximate 250$ deferral charge. Ouch .

Passing a hypothetical down to Insurance I'm told the raise in my premiums will be approx 150$ for the points. So if i don't pay the 250$ charge i get charged 150$ extra every 6 months for the next 2-3 years...

I can't really fight it as I don't have any evidence and I'm trying to keep this as low key as possible. My gf's uncle (her mom's brother) who'm I know very closely is the K9 unit for her county which is just 4 miles away from where I got the ticket. Me and him spar enough without him rubbing this in too.

As for traffic school, I can't get points taken off unless I talk to the Georgia DMV. And there's no points to take off if this goes according to plan.

If you have to exceed the speed limit when passing another vehicle then it was not safe to pass. That's part of the definition, it isn't safe unless you can pass the vehicle without exceeding the speed limit. Not that I agree with the definition or follow it, but don't use such a stupid argument.

My gf's dad claims he's never even got a warning. My gf's mom has had one local ticket for 65 in a 60 (again on 31). My gf's uncle apparently has had a couple but not many, all before he joined law enforcement of course. My dad has had two in his entire life, one for 45 in a 35 when he was 16, and one for 68 in a 65 (a very anal ticket but he was an out of stater) when he was 46. He's now 73 if it puts it in perspective. My mom's had a warning, but no ticket...

In other words I come from a line of law abiding revered citizens :roll: and apparently I broke all fibre of human moral code by getting a speeding ticket. Well everyone except my dad thought that anyways, he wondered how many times I could make the 900 mile trip before an anal cop tagged me .

I've had probably 5 or so speeding tickets over the years and a couple other minor infractions...nothing in the past 10 years though until last November when I got a speeding ticket on my way to work one morning on my motorcycle. I paid the fine and went to traffic school to keep the points off my license.

My wife got pulled over for doing ~21 over in Indiana about 5 years back. Which is fortunate because she was doing closer to 30+. The ticket was only like $150 (Thought it was bargain). Called in to the # on the ticket. They said something along the lines of 'You agree to pay $170, and don't get a ticket in the next year, and this ticket never happened.."

We did that. It was never reported into the databases as a ticket, no points, no nothing. Just the fine. Which we were 'fine' with. Pretty much bribery.. but no insurance rate hikes, etc.
