A person would have to be semi retarded to not be able to tell the center digit is not a 2, with that ball on there. But then again.....the average cop, like I say, fishing

Take it to court, you will win.

I guess towing a trailer exempts you from blocking your plate?

Why your trailer has a tag on it as well.

Don't need a Trailer plate(or tag) in Oregon untill the trailer weight >3500#'s. (not sure about other states)

Bike Racks, Trailers and hitch stow boxes all block the rear plate. Seems pretty selective to ticked for a trailer ball IMO.

The ticket was issued to increase revenue IMO.

If it's a law on the books, and I'm sure it is, you're going to lose. The salary of both the Judge and the Cop are dependant on this type of revenue.

Moral of the story, remove the ball unless you're towing something.

You may get lucky and get the fine reduced if the law allows this. Bring only a picture with the ball in place but, take a pic through the windshield of a car parked behind the truck. That's the view the cop had. The judge isn't going to pay any attention to other pictures.

I honestly don't believe the salary of both the Judge and the Cop are dependent on this type of revenue. Especially when you go to court with them. The judge will do what is fair, knowing full well that if you wanted to push it with a decent lawyer, you could easily do so with a considerable cost to that jurisdiction, to defend their decision.

Don't take this shit, just because some will say you are wrong because some asshole cop, fishing for drugs or what have you, says so.

Tough shit. Truck owners seem to think they get to have obstructed plates just because they "need" the bumper ball with its 25-lb tongue weight limit. Bumper balls make it impossible for police or witnesses to get your plate unless the vehicle is stopped and the person is on foot and can walk around to view it at an angle. You can't tow shit with one, so the only reason to have one is to purposely obstruct your plate. Sorry, the law still applies to you.

WTF are you talking about? my bumper is rated to tow the same as the hitch, 300lbs tongue, 3500lbs trailer. i dont think ANYONE leaves a ball on there to obstruct the plate purposely.

I agree with thomsbrain...no one in their right mind tows any load with a bumper ball, put a reciever on and do it properly. The bumper is way too underrated...

What kind of receiver do you have this is only rated at 3500? why not install a class 3 or up and go with a standard 2" receiver.

I towed my Jetski for 2 years with a bumper ball...I didn't feel the need to spend $200.00 on a hitch to tow 800lbs....

Plus the bumper is rated for 3000 lbs with a 2" ball...
Never once did I get stopped or questioned about it..me thinks you got a dick head cop.
