Got a seatbelt ticket today, what should I do?

So I got a seatbelt violation today, while driving. I was taking my little cousin home from school, when a cop pulled me over. Apparently my cousin didn't have his seatbelt on. I know I should have told him to put his seatbelt on when we drove away.

So I don't plan to fight this ticket, because he really wasn't wearing his setbelt.

The thing is in California this is a point violation and goes on your record. I was told insurance company don't care about this type of violation, so should I still ask the judge for traffic school or save it for something else?

I already said, I wasn't going to fight it and pay the fine.

Should I ask for traffic school though? Since I was told insurance company don't care about this type of ticket. A minor not wearing a seatbelt. But it will be on my record?

..pay yer fine. Pay the increase in yer insurance too. Your in a new risk catagory.

actually if you had read he doesnt dispute the fact that a fine should be paid and actually said his insurance company doesnt care about this type of violation... it's 5 lines of text and you cant read it

Traffic school or court supervision is only available for MOVING violations i think.

But this a point violtion? Will my insurance go up?

I got one (after taking my seatbelt off, after stopping, and AFTER the cop asked for license and registration (stopped me for a headlight being out)). Took it to court, DA offered a $15 court fee, no points, no record. Shook his hand, paid my $15 and walked out. Not worth to waste another day of work to face the cop in court.

call your insurance company and ask if a seatbelt ticket will raise rates on their policies... dont give your name or any other info just say you are inquiring about a policy

they'd be able to tell you more about it than i could

In California if the person with out a seatbelt is under 16 and the driver is an adult than it becomes a point violation. Which sucks. I better be able to go to traffic school if it will raise my insurance.

So does anyone know if insurance company would care about this type of ticket?

Most care a whole lot about seatbelt violations.

Someone in your car doesn't wear seatbelt - you get in a wreck - big medical bills.
