For the last time, you're paying 70 a month for the contract which includes the price of the phone! That's what teh device payment means. Subtract 27 out of 70, that leaves you with the service cost.

If you thought your service costs 70 a month, that is sheer nuttiness.

He's apparently on the Verizon loyalty plan that was introduced a couple of years ago.

Personally I think $70 is a lot to pay for service (I'm on the TMO 5GB plan for $26) but if Verizon's coverage works for the OP, more power to him.

$60 for unlimited talk and text and 2gb data, plus you get a subsidized phone every two years.

The phone cost is already accounted for in the plan. Seriously, this is like being locked into a lease like a car. That's crazy. Didn't Apple push something like this out too?

That's actually not how it works. The loyalty plan is a flat rate fee of $60 a month for 2gb of data, and an additional $10 a month for every 1gb after that. So $70 for 3gb is the figure I quote when I talk about it, since 3gb is the standard these days. But I usually am able to keep my data under 2gb and thus pay $60 a month.

I hope everyone else can see now how great this is for you. That's some serious deal you got there. Note that the thing that makes it a great deal is the best buy promo for getting that phone for a buck. Without that you'd have to pay probably $200 for last year's phone, in addition to being in contract for the next two years. Not so great.

Honestly I think even for $200+2yrs the phone would be a pretty good deal considering the S7 Edge is $299+2yrs and the S6 Edge Plus has arguably classier design, twice the memory built in (64 vs 32), slightly bigger screen and 16 vs 12mp camera. Like I said earlier though I wish I hadn't even mentioned the price, I was just excited about the deal at the time I made the thread but the main reason I made the thread was because I was looking for case recommendations.

You can look at it as TCO. If the OP needs Verizon coverage for his area then it's a good deal.

Otherwise, it's pretty expensive since there are lots of other cheaper options. I pay $26 (total, no tax) for my TMO prepaid 5GB plan so my TCO is very low but perhaps the OP doesn't have good TMO coverage in his area. Cricket is also a good choice at $35 for 2.5GB (or as low as $20 on a family plan) but again, coverage can be a concern.
