How much do you guys think http://thewebdot.com is worth?

I recieved an email today from register.com saying that they'd like to buy it from me. Apparently anyone can ask Register.com to contact the owner of a domain name and offer to purchase it. On their site it says you must be willing to pay at least $200 for them act for you. So that means someone is willing to spend at least $200 for it.

What do you guys think it's worth? $200? $500? $1000?

I guess I could say that I wanted a couple thousand see what they say in negtiations.

Cool...I'd just say that you should figure out who wants to buy it, then ask them for an appropriate amount of money. If they're a decently big company, ask for lots :)

I'm just waiting for McDonald's to try to take my domain from me (hamburglar.org). I'll ask for millions :)

Well that the thing though, since Register.com is doing the offer, you don't know who wants to buy it. They act as a go-between so you don't have to barter for the domain yourself.

edit: Apprently the service is by http://www.afternic.com/ (a register.com company)

It's too bad you can't find out who wants the domain, for what purpose and how badly they want it.

If it's a big company and they really want it, I'd say $1,000 or higher or maybe $2,500 or maybe just $500 and consider yourself lucky.

That's interesting...

There's some wrestler guy they call the "paulsonator" so I was wondering whenever he hit big if he'd ever buy the site for a few grand... looks like it'll never happen :(

I'd ask for at least $1000

The problem is, if you ask too much, you might offend the person and lose the chance of making some money altogether. Good luck..

How much money have you dropped into the site since you started it? Recoup that money at the very least. Maybe take that figure and double or triple it.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot - if it's an option, just say "make me an offer." The seller approached you, let them tell you what they'd like to pay for it. If it sounds good, ask them for 20% more than that and go from there.

I actually sold a domain for $3000 or $4000 a couple years ago.

I like the little graphic you have there, thats pretty cool.

I would say over $1500. If a company wants it, they are gonna pay a lot to have it. But doesn't register.com also park domains and not use them and just advertise it? Maybe it isnt a company, but they just want to park it.

I would advertise on your site, that the domain is for sale. Maybe the company is watching your site and will make an offer besides register.com?
