I just picked up a 64MB Radeon today (retail).. I put it in and i ran mad onion, first thing i noticed was that there were like "glitchy" graphics.... like flickers that appeared in random spots but all over. I reinstalled the drivers/card etc. but it still does it, even on the radeon demo that came with it. It's pretty bad... I'm thinking maybe it's because i have an abit be6-II running a PIII 600 / 133fsb... don't think the card likes it. Is there any way I can turn down the AGP setting? I went into bios and all I can set the AGP at at 1/1 (which doesn't work at all) and 2/3 (flicker).. am i totally off ? Could it be something else? Please help.. thanks. =( (DVD and everything else runs fine..)

It sounds like artifacts that occur because of overclocking...if the bus is overclocked to 133, then u need a 1/3 ratio to get it to normal speed....is that possible? cause ur agp is running at like 89 MHz or something instead of 66, I think.

No, you would need an AGP divisor of 1/2 which a BX chipset doesnt support. Try underclocking your CPU to 450mhz (4.5x100 instead of 133mhz) to get your AGP back inspec, and see if the flicker remains. If so, then your only option is to replace the motherboard, or the card.

Well... i changed my FSB to 100, crossed my fingers, and ran 3D mark again... the glitches were still there. *sigh* So I changed the setting on the 3d Mark to Intel Pentium III optimization and the glitches went away. So I tried it on D3D Software T&L Optimization and there were still no glitches, but once I switched back to Hardware T&L, the glitches came back. What does this mean? How come the card still doesn't run correctly even though the AGP is no longer overclocked? Is it a card defect or something else? =(;):(

Hey MacrossPlus I just got the 64DDR too and in WinME it runs the Mad Onion benchmark just fine but under Win2K it has alot of glitches. Are you useing 2K or ME/9x? I read somewhere that the 2K drivers aren't that great yet. Just a thought.

I'm running Windows ME.. and the card only glitches under hardware T&L. Now I'm just wondering, is it my card or my board? If it were my board, which board would be a good choice? Should I return my card and get another one just to find out which one is the problem?

(Pentium III 600 @ 133) :confused:

Try different drivers, which ones are you using? There has been maybe 5 different releases since the ones on the CD.

Yeah I do think it's because of overclocking.. but shouldn't the card have performed normally once i switched my FSB speed from 133 to 100? I don't really know how it all works but I'm just confused now. :confused: Drivers didn't change anything either.

Try these reg settings:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ATI Technologies\Driver\0000\atidxhal]
"DisableHierarchicalZ"="0"
"EnableWaitUntilIdxTriList2"="1"
"Vsync"="0"
"DitherAlpha"="1"
"AntiAlias"="0"
"ZFormats"="15"
"ExportCompressedTex"="1"
"DisableHyperZ"="0"
"FastZClearEnabled "="1"
"TableFogEnable"="1"
"WFogEnable"="1"
"ZFogEnable"="1"

Interesting problem. I have a similar problem with my 32MB DDR that I have yet to find a solution for--but I'm running 98.

Tried the registry hacks, tried every driver available. Used the registry cleaner. Nothing
solves the problem.

Any more suggestions?

I have check and searched the Rage3D forums and nobody with your
BE6 motherboard has a similar problem to you. I think
you have a installation problem. i recommend you
remove old drivers and clean your registry.
How?
Read the Radeon Installation Guide.
