Just a footnote, I have a Wii and 360 already and I beat Fallout 3 on the PC so that is out.

So my dad got me the 160GB PS3 for a Christmas/B-day present and I just got home late last night so I haven't plugged it in. It came with Uncharted and I hear Littlebigplanet is a must have, but what else should I be looking into getting?

Also what are the must have accessories?

Resistance 1 and 2, Warhawk, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4 (and previous titles), Uncharted...for non exclusives, try GTA IV, CoD4, etc.

Depends on what you're into...
WipEout HD is only a few clicks away and a great game for the price.

Resistance 2 for good throw down fun, and MGS4 for just getting your mind blown. Eternal Sonata for some RPG goodness. I've played Valkyria Chronicles and LBP (both of which are rated 9/10, and I just couldn't find any appeal for it.

Download Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix!

Since you have a 360, I'm imagining you are looking only for the exclusives since you would already have had access to any multiplatform title.
So with that, I'd suggest:
Resistance 2 (and 1)
Ratchet and Clank
Metal Gear Solid 4
numerous titles on PSN, but chief among them: WipEout HD for $20. Game is awesome if you like the WipEout serious. :)
Any Motorstorm title will be fun.
And LittleBigPlanet is great, but rent first. It's not for everyone, but is for those who like crazy side-scrolling platformers where you can basically do whatever the hell you can imagine. :)

and do yourself a favor and pick up the official BT Headset. It's great and has the best sound for PS3 gaming out there among all the other BT headsets, including what was included with Warhawk.
Oh, and with that, maybe check out Warhawk too. It can be fun.

Hot Shots Golf Out of Bound is my favorite PS3 game, although I have a bunch of others. LittleBigPlanet is hilarious if you play it online w/ other people. If you're into driving, the Logitech Driving Force GT + Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is a must have combo.

motorstorm fun in short bursts...i paid 60 for the first one which was way overpriced since it didnt even have split screen but the new one has improved on the first in every which way and can be had for $30 which is a pretty good deal.

you can pick up any wireless mouse/keyboard if you wanna type more on the ps3...

I'd get MGS4 ASAP. Some post-Christmas sales have it for $30-ish.

Accessories-wise, not much. I'd get the official keypad to make the internet browser a lot more usable. Your system came with a Dualshock, so no problem there. Maybe the remote if you're really into movies, but that's more for convenience/show. The controller works fine, and it's wireless.

Using the controller for movies is out of the question, if you have anyone else living with you.

I can't imagine why not, but then again I can still win races in mario kart with a head full of acid, despite (or pehaps because of) the TV melting.

Hand your gf, mom, dad, or anyone else who never used a PS3, the controller & a Blu-ray disk, and get back to me.

Hot Shots Golf Out of Bounds should definitely be a rental first as well. I played it for a bit and promptly sold it (wish I'd rented it first). Just couldn't understand why it's seen to be so much fun. MLB '08 The Show is great, if you're even remotely into baseball, and Uncharted is pretty freaking cool. GT5 Prologue is pretty cool too if you're a sim racer, but it's a little short.

The remote is a nice accessory, if you're going to be watching movies. In my opinion, it's much easier to use than the controller. And as Muadib said, any family members and such will be greatful for the remote if they want to sit down and watch a movie on the PS3.

Even more surprised you missed the part where the OP said he owns 360. Why would you buy BioShock for $60 on PS3 when you can get it for $20 on 360 and PC.

I got it from Fry's for $39 a week ago.

Awesome game though if the OP has never played it. I'm sad that I just beat it though :(

Really arguably the best exclusive titles for the PS3 is Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and Little Big World.

Don't be surprised...I've been drinking a lot for the last couple of weeks.

Responses:
Do I need to play Resistance 1 before Resistance 2 or should I aim for one or the other. Also I haven't gotten Gears of War 2 yet, for dual console owners which would you go first on?

I do not like Metal Gear games, I know, I know you can crucify my later, but I just get frustrated with timing/secrecy games rather quickly. Took me ages to beat Splinter Cell, because I didn't play more than 15 minutes at a time.

Bioshock was the game I beat before Fallout 3 on the PC, great game.

Is Wipeout HD basically the same as the old PS1 game with new graphics? Sort of a re imagining of F-Zero?

Is Eternal Sonata worth getting or should I go Fable 2 first (I liked Fable 1, again dual console ppl)

Ratchet and Clank looks cool but I haven't played the rest of the series so how hard is it to pick up?
