Got a parking ticket in DC

I know maryland and DC have reciprocity but will a parking ticket show on My Maryland record?

I got ticketed for being parked in a bus lane when I was parked at a meter but I dont know how i can dispute this since the officer's word is golden. $100 down the drain.

I also got a ticket for no front tag. $50 down the drain. I have no problem paying that fine.

Does anyone know what will happen if I just don't pay the $100 ticket since I am a Maryland resident?

Thanks for the help.

Parking tickets don't show on driving records.. but they will likely find a way to make you pay.

Ouch. I thought only patrol cops give you ticket for no front tag, not the meter maids.

They will if you don't pay 'em off.

Parking ticket paid in DC do not effect your insurance rate and there is no points placed on your license.

So when I go to renew my registration the MD DMV won't give me a problem?

Baked is right. If you let it go too long, it will impact you when you try and renew your license.

Only if you pay it. Otherwise it'll show.

You do know the legal definition of "moving violation", right? Your car has to be MOVING!!! :p

(those are the kind that show up on your record--unless you rack up thousands of $$$$ in tickets...)

Actually yeah you're right. I was thinking of just points on his record..

Pay the parking ticket and chalk it up to a bad deal. Litter the next time you are in DC to get back at them. ;)

Don't pay and then act surprised when the suspended license letter comes. The ONLY way to avoid penalties and suspended licences for not paying parking tickets in DC is to have Diplomatic plates.

Write it in and ask for a reduction since you're poor. Pay the reduced fine, consider it a lesson learned, and be glad nothing shows up on your driving record:)

It's a parking ticket, not a moving violation.

As a student in DC, I know DC Traffic Enforcement (aka metermaids) are pretty strict. If it makes you feel any better, they only gave you the no front plate ticket after they saw you in the bus zone - they basically check for anything obvious if they're writing one ticket.

You live in MD, you're going to be in DC at some point. They do boot cars here. I don't understand why you don't a) contest the ticket and/or try to lower the cost or b) just pay the ticket. It's not that much money, it won't show up on insurance, but it could screw you over for other things.

I don't know that they can issue a bench warrant for an unpaid parking ticket; that said, don't use that as an excuse.
