got a p4 1.6-1.8? any MB recommendations?

Me thinks the SiS 645DXchipset that is coming out this month should be considered.

Currently for an RDRAM system the aforementioned Asus MB is probably the best. For a DDR based system, the sis645 chipset cant be beat. For that go with Asus P4S333 or MSI Ultra (forget the number). However like he said an even better sis645dx chipset has been previewed which should be out in a few months if you are on the DDR high...

Asus P4B266/P4B266-C or Asus P4S333 are the best bet. The i850E is suppose to only support PC-800 because of the high priced PC-1066 modules. Im going to get a P4B266-C a 1.6a and 2x256MB PC-2100 later on. The 2 sticks of PC-2100 will then be used in the grainte bay chipset, using duel channel DDR266 (PC-2100) and 533Mhz fsb, in Q3-02.

that's what i had in mind earlier too. That board looked extremely promising to me but does any one has any idea how much the board will roughtly cost?

I've got a retail p4 1.8a coming that I'm planning to o/c to 2.4ghz. Before I attach (practically permanently) the retail heat sink, do you guys think I should use a different heatsink/fan than the retail if all I want to do is reach 2.4?

2.4ghz is not garanteed. My 1.8a will fail prime95 after 10 seconds of running when i O/C to 2.4ghz. I have raised the voltage as high as 1.75.
