got a no seatbelt ticket today...will this affect my insurance?

he was at a stop light and i just zoomed by him. i dont think that fact that i was on my cell phone with one hand on the wheel helped either.

No it's not. It's going to be a NATIONAL LAW. Not a state one anymore. Either wear your seatbelt in every state, all the time while driving, or prepare to be fined for it if pulled over.


EDIT:

After checking State Farm's page, if I or the law enforcement agency report a seatbelt violation to my insurance company, it may actually impact my rates, since it is a reflection of how I drive and they'd consider me a higher risk for injury.

You should wear it. If not for accidents, then to keep you in your seat and in control during violent menovers. It sure would suck if you went into a skid or off the read at speed and could easily recover if you didnt find yourself in the passanger seat trying to grab the wheel.

I think the firemen, paramedics, and police officers got sick of scraping splattered brains and flesh off of the pavement because some moron didn't want to wear his seat belt. I use to think the same way as you, but if the gov't is going to be running the accident clean up crews than they do have the right to protect their employees from having to witness and deal with such horrible, preventable scenes.

My mind may change once I get a $101 Washington State no-seatbelt-ticket. But then again, I always wear one.
