Just wondering how this stepping is compared to the others? I am not sure the board will be able to handle much more on the htt. I may try putting it in my Asrock m1695 mobo when I hit the htt limit on the Biostar nForce4SLI-A9 flashed to TForce version.

How high has others gotten with this stepping? Any info out there?

I will post the results when I get to the board or cpu limit.

Edit: 3x chips from Ben below will all do 3ghz at 1.45v. Seems to be a very nice stepping thus far :)

Edit #2: I finally got around to putting it in the Asrock m1695 mobo and could get to 322mhz htt. Which equals 2900mhz or so. I upped the voltage just in case. It may not be needed. I will lower voltages and such when I hit the htt limit. I corrupted my XP install so I will have to try ocing more later on.

Um yes heh. 2.7ghz on stock volts is a good cpu....

Im guessing you got it from monarch for $120 shipped? I was actually considering buying one last night and noticed they just raised the price back to $145. Lame. :p

2.7 at stock is better than I've ever done with a 144, so I'd say you have quite a damn fine chip there. This is the first occurance of CAB1E that I've heard of. Although, it should be similar to the CCB1E dual core chips, since it is using the same memory controller, just that the chip is single core.

That might explain your very good overclock.

It seems the mobo will NOT let me go past 307mhz. I raised the voltages on cpu and no go. Not even 1 mhz. So it appears to be the mobo. I wonder if the Asrock m1695 mobo will do a better htt? May be worth trying.

I tried raising voltages and such for the htt and even the cpu just to make sure its not the limiting factor. I set the htt link to 2x and not much better. If I get the time, I will try it on a different mobo.

modempower: You are correct, I got the cpu from Monarch at the $120 price. It was definitely well worth it! 2.7ghz with the mobo being the limiting factor ='s faster than my 2.6ghz 3800+ x2 in single threaded apps and such.

Anyways, I will try again later.

I got the same exact stepping as you from Monarch. Your results are very promising. I have googled and found that the CAB1E stepping is getting 3.0Ghz at very low voltages in some cases.

Now, if I only had the right parts for my heatsink, I would be in business. Until then, I will have to look at my processor sitting on my desk.

Hmmm... I think I'll try it first and see if I like it :)

It is my first AMD (I'm always one or two steps behind)

Be sure to let us know how high you can get yours. I plan on trying the cpu on a different mobo with weekend.

I also forgot to mention that I am only using a stock Aluminum HSF from my wifes Retail 144. I have a XP90 (ThermalRights Hybrid based Heatpiped hs) with 120mm Fan that I use with my X2 3800+ that I will also try with. It could just help it to get alittle higher :)

I will report what I can get out of mine. I am kind of worried that my board is going to hold me back. I have the Asrock dual sata board, and apparently the HTT is capped at about 274. I need 300+. I think that if my CPU is going to be a good one, I may have to look into a better board, which forces me to buy a new video card as well. Amazing how this stuff snowballs :)

i got one of these too guys,

exact stepping/code and week of yours ben

but I think this nf3 board aint cutting it htt wise. Im getting an epox nf4 tomorrow hopefully will have good luck.

What cooling are you using Ben? That is a really nice oc for only 1.45 volts. And all 3x of the 144's will do that speed? Impressive.

I may go ahead and try today to see how high the Asrock m1695 mobo I have will take it.

The other mobo's I have will only do 282mhz and 307mhz. So I have no idea of how high this cpu will really go.

the load temps on speedfan picks up to 43.5C. check out my 3.3 rails...is my sensors messed up? my 12v reads 12.34 but my voltimeter tell me its 11.85v. I know its not suppose to be the most accurate but some of them are way off. I have a xp90 right now but i do plan to move on to watercooling.

Got the motherboard and processor up and running tonight. I have been getting everything ironed out so I have not started overclocking yet. I will hopefully post some results tomorrow.

Well, I finally have some preliminary results to share.

I got my Asrock dual sata board with BIOS 1.6 and it stopped booting after 274 FSB. I flashed to BIOS 1.9 (newest).

I am now at 300 FSB (2.7 Ghz) at default vcore, and RAM at a 166 divider. Running HyperX BH5 at 2-2-2-6 on this divider.

Needless to say, I am very pleased. I am going to see how high I can get, but I might just leave it alone for right now :)

Nice, I WILL test the 144 on my Asrock m1695 mobo now. I heard of alot of people saying they couyldn't get past 275mhz or so. So I just kept my 3800+ X2 @ 2600mhz (260mhzx10) and not worry about wasting my time trying this Opty 144 on it.

But it looks like I don't hit that problem. I also have BH5 memory. To bad the mem voltages are Aweful on these mobo's.

I have a DDR Booster but the new PS I have doesn't have -12v rails so it won't display the voltage. And even worse is that the mobo doesn't have a Voltage Monitor for 2.5v (Memory Voltage). So, I could have at least went by that when using the ddr booster, but no go without that.

Sad too, because i've had this Patriot BH5 over 238mhz@222 with 3.0-3.1v. Oh well, not much that I can do about it right now.

Anyways, thanks for all of the updates. :)

I also got one of those from Monarch, got it up to 320MHZ FSB on my SLI-DR with stock AMD heatpipe HSF and a 120mm fan blowing over it.

I have the same stepping cpu plus the Asrock mb and hit 328MHZ FSB for a 2.95gh overclock at 1.45 volts and with bios 1.9. Prime 95 8 hours solid. SWEET!!

Woodsman,

That is awesome. I have no doubt I can do the same, but my memory is holding me back. I am using Kingston HyperX BH5, but I can only get 2.7 volts to the ram with the setting on "high" in the bios.

The cpu seems like it want sto keep going, any errors or crashes I get are ram related.

What ram are you running? Did you do any vdimm mods?

finally got to 3ghz with this chip @ 1.45v

I ended up having to set ram volts to 3.0 to get it stable. i got to get a fan over the ram sticks quick though, they will burn your hands if you touch them.
