Got a new cell phone...what the heck do i do with the old one?

It's a good phone i spose. A 1.5 year old Ericsson flip phone.

I feel bad just throwing it away...it's got a charger and an earpiece adapter.

Are there places i can donate it to? Would anyone really even want it? I mean, with new phones being almost included with plans these days?

Heh, if I was there in person I'd take the parts, but I don't have any ideas at the moment so it would just be more clutter in my room and the cost of shipping... 😛

Even without a calling plan the phone should still be capable of reaching 911.

If someone in your family needs or wants a cell phone on hand in their car in case of an emergency, you could give it to them. I was told that 911 can be dialed from any cell phone, even one that doesn't have a wireless plan.

<< Ebay will bring you good fortune. >>

hmmm..good point.

well, there's someone here on AT who PM'd me and said they would take it and pay shipping...so looks like i might do that.

if that doesn't work out, ebay it is! thanks

Go to Wal Mart and pretend you're having an argument with someone and start screaming into it and throw it on the ground in a fit of rage and jump up and down on it 🙂

I'd ebay it or put it in the fs/ft forum.

Clone it to your new phone, so you can have a backup. Either that or donate it and get yourself a huge receipt so you can write it off. There's gotta be some sort of "phones for 'tards" or some charity out there.

YES! check with in your local community to see if such programs like W.E.A.V.E. are collecting phones. They do it here in Sac around chrismas time. Its a good cause, you could be helping someone out.

That's probably the best way to go. If nothing else, I'm sure you can get a receipt for a tax write-off (albeit very small). Even without a receipt, it's not a bad thing to do.

Our rotary here i town collects them and then donates them to the womens shelter. They can still reach 911 without a contract so that could always help someone, maybe even save a life
