Though it's a lot of money for very little in absolute gains. If something improves performance by 50%, you are getting a lot more for the dollar modding something that has 400 HP vs 100 HP.
Not to mention it's proportionally less a % of the value of the vehicle. Spending $4000 to get 50 HP out of a $7000 car isn't as attractive as getting 200 HP out of a $30,000 car.
Unfortunately those types of parts have a fixed cost that doesn't really vary with the vehicle application, so as the vehicle gets cheaper, the mod becomes less attractive as it becomes a larger portion of the price of the vehicle itself.
I do like the look of the tC and supposedly the 2.4L (2AZ) engine responds well to boost/mods, but you have to ask yourself if the cost of those mods is worth it relative to the cost of the car. Sometimes it's better to start with a platform more suited to your purposes.
Just be careful with the stuff you do get. The tC is a popular car with a a big/new aftermarket explosion, and many of the parts you're interested in will be highly marked up to take advantage of the young aspiring modder market that car is marketed to.
it's pretty hard though to take a 400HP car and get a 50% gain at anywhere near the cost that same gain would be at 100HP.
That TRD Supercharger puts the TC in around 14 secs through the 1/4 and gives the car a much more punchy feel.
Personally I really like the Scion lineup. Great platform to modify and have a unique and fun ride.
if i was to do any forced injection on the tc it would be a turbo, not a fan of SC's imo
The nice thing about the TRD s/c is that it's a bolt-on Toyota part..
