So? If he's doing a necessary job and the government is bankrupt how is that his fault?

Also, you're 28, live at home, and you're excited (and posting) about getting a job that most people get when they're 18 and fresh out of high school. You should expect to get some shit for that. I mean, it's great that you're finally getting your shit together, but I'm sure even you realize that you're about 10 years behind.

Edit - So, congrats and everything, but it's still the internet so I'm still gonna give you shit...:)

I hope if you are 10 years behind on something , someone puts it to you as as harshly as you have to Locut. As much as you think you'll take it like a man, you wont.

I misspoke (typed). I went to google maps and it's closer to a 4.5 mile trip. So, I walk about a mile to the bus stop, then the bus takes me the rest of the way. And there's no bus fee (student bus pass). The trouble isn't getting there so much as getting back, since the bus schedule isn't very consistent. But in any case, I'll stop being a whining baby and just do the commute.

Get a bike?

Jobs just aren't about money. Everyone is different. I would rather work somewhere that I found interesting, rather than work somewhere that I loathed. 28 isn't that old. I wish I was 28 and knew what I know now.

Congrats! on the new job. I hope you find it interesting and get to meet people you like, while helping them with stuff related to computers.

congrats, keep your nose down and work hard and you'll do just fine. And don't spend that hard earned paycheck on garbage.

Thanks for the support guys, means a lot to me! Still hopping to get a call back from the EB games position sometimes before the end of the month. I've dropped by a few times to follow-up and make sure she feels that I'm extra keen on the position along with being qualified.

Congratulations!

It may not be what you're looking for, but it'll get you out of the house and interacting with people again. That'll get you more comfortable dealing with people, and make upcoming interviews easier for you.

Totally this!!

Congratz!!!!

Congrats Locut0s. Hopefully they figure out how smart you are and promote you quickly.

Otherwise, keep an eye open for help desk type jobs, they usually suck, but they often open the door to lots of better options.... (I'm a former help desk jockey turned cubicle dwelling software developer, with no degree)

If you're good, you'll be surprised how well FS pays. I worked there for about 4 months and I averaged $24/hr with my commissions.

Congrats dude.. I think you can make some decent money there actually.
I know (not that well) some of the sales guys there just through other people, and they seem to do fine.. Not like loaded fine, but not broke thats for sure. You can EASILY crest the $9/hr base pay you'll get in commissions. Just be positive and kill it.
