Got a Dell X50 as a gift..

I really don't follow much of the PDA stuff so I really don't have any idea how this all works, but what can I do with it? Can I go on our campus and use the internet on it? Or how does it all work? What are good places to get software for it? What are good pieces of software for it?

Pocket PC... lots of good software for it, but I'm a Palm OS guy ... look into making it a media player for on-the-go... I love my Treo600 phone as an MP3 / movie player ... you'll need expansion cards (1GB SD card for me)... so be prepared to put more $$ into it... for most of us, it's a "hobby toy". It can do much more than keep your appointments. 😉

Since you didn't already have one, I'm sure you don't need it. You should send it to me instead. I'll even pay for shipping! I'll be doing you a big favor because once your school finds out that you have one, they start adding access fees to your student bill whether or not you use it

😉

Portable pr0n? It does have WMP10 built-in ... 😀

It is 802.11b (wireless), so if your school supports that you can surf on it (prolly crappy, though, considering small display ... nice and bright w/colors, though)

For software, Google is your friend ... anything that's compatible with WM2003 shouldn't give you a problem.

I saw that, it would have been a bit more actually, mine was $374 + tax w/free shipping, this would have been $384. + tax w/free shipping, "would have" because the coupon doesnt seem to work, first problem is that it is 40 off 425, the axim is $424.15 to start with, I added three stylus' to put it over 425 but it still wouldnt accept the coupon.

My school lent me a PDA for a quarter. I used it to quickly Google stuff on the go, but actual websurfing was a pain since the resolution was so low. I also used it as an NES emulator and a ebook reader.

I think I used PocketNester for NES emulation and uBook for reading. uBook has a lot of text aliasing settings to help make things more readable.
