Got a couple new kittens today.

Rayna and Ozzy

Hard to get good pictures of little furry balls of pure energy =) I adopted them from a Vet's Office... somebody dropped off a litter. These two were left, brother and sister, 6 weeks old. Very cute and loving kittens. As soon as I sit down on the floor they're in my lap rolling around begging for me to pet them.

Attention deprived teenagers...

I'm a big cat person. I wanted some real little ones like this so I could train them to be calm and friendly. I had thought about getting an older cat, maybe 2-3 years from the Humain Society, but then I didn't want to deal with a cat that might have been abused and might be mean or spiteful and pee on my stuff.

Don't be suprised if they start trying to nurse on things around the house (shirts, blankets, etc.) Sometimes kittens do this if they weren't weened (sp?) properly by their mothers. I've had many kittens do that.

I like cats better than dogs. Cats (if friendly) can be just as friendly as dogs.

Cats don't have the tendency to lick stuff.
Cats are easily housebroken
Cats are self-cleaning.
If you have 2 or more, you can watch them tear-assing around the house with each other (put your breakables up high)

did i mention self-cleaning and easily housebroken? They just seem like cleaner animals.

Yeah, they were taken away from their mother a little too early, so when I reach down to pet them when they're sleepy they try to suck my finger. And when they're sleeping, you can see their mouth moving like they're sucking. Rayna sticks her tongue out a lot =) Been trying to get a picure of it.
The self cleaning and easy housebreaking is definately an advantage cats have. I like certain dogs too though... black labs, golden retrievers.

if only you could combine the loyalty of a cat with the cleanliness of a dog.

Don't you mean the loyalty of a dog with the cleanliness of a cat? =)

*EDIT* My last cat (RIP) was very loyal to me... when my brother moved out, it took him a while to get as friendly with me as he was with my brother. He'd follow me everywhere... he could be sound asleep in his bed, and if I got up and went upstairs, he'd follow me if I didn't come back down in less than a minute.
