Got a call from Greg at Gateway regarding X800XTPE order........

Greg from Gateway called me just a little while ago and he said, due to FTC's rules, since the order date of the X800XT was changed twice, they are required to notify us by phone that the order should ship from now till July 9th. He wanted to know if they should continue with the order and I said yes.

I'm a patient person so I'll wait this one out.

Anyone else get a call?
 
I too got a call. The guy said the exact thing yours did.

The 3rd party sales rep that I talked to from the Acc. Store also said the same thing. The FTC forces them to give dates, even though they may not be correct. He kept saying, "I am saying this date because it is FTC required, but you and I both know that it isn't worth the paper it's written on."

Seems like the regulations hinder more than help!
 
This really shouldn't have been posted here. This should have been placed in the original "Gateway XT" thread or in another forum altogether.

Why not put it in the original thread? Since the people who care about this issue will be checking that thread frequentyly your post is more likely to get read by the people who care, and the ones who dont wont click there anyway so its less likely to get read by people who are flaming you now.
 
I believe I ordered from the same Greg you're referring to and I got the same call from what I think was a Gateway CSR a week ago. She told me my card wouldn't ship until July 16th and asked if I wanted to wait or cancel. I considered cancelling but I decided to wait it out. Who knows, the card may ship before or after this guestimated date.

FWIW, I checked this morning and my online status now says it will arrive on July 16th. I'm a betting man and I'll lay odds the 16th isn't the magic number. 😉 😛
 
I am SO jealous. I HAVE to have one of these cards! Hopefully the price will go down around the new year... hopefully...

Wow, I searched "SgtZulu's" recent posts and stopped at about a dozen without seeing a single good thing to say to or about anyone. IMO this community is about helping others and if you don't have anything to offer you shouldn't be here.

I bought a 9800Pro, and I fully regret it. I was supposed to be playing HL2 by now. I'd say take this opportunity to CANCEL your order and buy a 9800XT when they are $150 with free Half-Life 2 CD in the box when the games that require it actually come out. Then you can buy another new card with the $200 you save later on, and you still will be able to play the best games for 2 generations down. They will just keep pushing back due dates, until you need to upgrade AGAIN before playing the games you thought you could. Just my word of warning, but it's your money.

I would delete this if I could. But since people feel the need to crap on a thread that has nothing to do with them in the first place I guess this thread will grow.
