I have an old (maybe 4 year old) Braun Synchro 7670 that runs great, only replaced the foil once and keep it nice and clean. Not as good as a blade but a lot more convenient.

I've never used a non-rotary razor before. My face hasn't been this smooth since I was 13! I understand this model cost $$$$ (my wife is sweet and likes to impress me 🙂 ), but DAYUM this thing shaves close. Has a bunch of Buck Rogers lights and gadetry with it too. I give it three thumbs up:

this is a foil shaver right?

how does that compare to the $5 shaveman foil shavor at Walmart?

Well....it's $145 more expensive for one. Here's the link:

Braun Activator with cleaning system (included)

more expensive doesnt mean better.

mind doing a comparison test? goto walmart and pick up the Saveman and do side by side tests?

if you've spent $150 for a shaver, what's $5 more? 🙂

Actually, I'm going to Walmart today. I'll buy a Saveman and try it out for you. Luckily I didn't shave today since it's my day off. Maybe I'll do some 1/2 and 1/2 pics too 🙂

I bought the 8585 before Christmas, but it's on backorder, so it hasn't shipped yet.

That's why I'm raving about this new one so much. It seems to be better than a blade...a first for me! I'm going to do the Saveman test though. Stay tuned.

OK, picked up a Saveman (it was $4.97). I didn't post pics because my crappy camera isn't sensitive enough to show the difference, but I can sum everything up in a nutshell:

To get as close a shave with the Saveman as I did with the Braun Activator, I got 2 nasty cuts and razor burn to hgh heaven :| The Saveman doesn't shave any better than my Mach3 did.

Never listening to ATOT for grooming advice again. This $@(*&$@# cut hurts!! :|

i have the samething and the damn cleaning system broke!!
wont charge or clean the shaver anymore 🙁

Every electric I have ever tried seemed to be designed to rid the face of "peach fuzz" if you tried it on normal to firm facial hair it would either rip it out or do nothing.

I picked up a Remington MS3-1700 from CVS for $29 last night and wow it gives me a close shave combined with King of Shaves green oil. I also have the MS2-200 but it only has 2 screens. For $30 this shaver is awesome, also Amazon has it but its $40 + shipping.

so you think the ms3 is better than the ms2?

How does it compare to the $5 Shaveman from Walmart?

Yeah...I wouldn't be posting about this stuff if it wasn't that big of a change. I have a thick beard (used to have to shave in the morning and at night for 5 o'clock shadow), and I can actually go a day and a half without shaving with this puppy.

This thread gives me the idea of getting something like this for my brother, but he's got really sensitive skin, and I know that every time he's used foil shavers, he complained about burning and itching sensations (considering these are used on dry cheeks), and aftwerards he had irritations and pimples on his neck... will this machine put him through the same experience?

Yeah, you don't want a foil razor for sensitive skin. Try one of the new Philips Norelco rotaries instead. Get him a supply of 'Lectric Shave and have him apply it before hand too. Have a couple of weeks his skin will adapt and the razor burn will go away.
