Here's a clip:

Do you have a BFG graphics card that has an AGP bus type?

The PCI Express bus type for graphics cards is the standard going forward for all systems and motherboards. In fact, AGP is no longer being supported.

If you were to upgrade your system or motherboard now or in the future, you would need a PCI Express graphics card to support that new system, which would improve your overall performance in 3D games and video processing.

We?d like to encourage you to trade in your current working AGP BFG graphics card for a BFG PCI Express graphics card. The chart below shows BFG AGP cards and their closest PCI Express equivalent.

Now, for a limited time, if you send us your BFG AGP card in good, working condition, we?ll send you the PCI Express equivalent at no cost to you. If you want to upgrade to an even better performing card, there is a nominal fee to do so. Offer good for U.S. customers only.

If you choose to take advantage of this offer, please remember that you would need to upgrade your current AGP-based system to a PCI Express-based system at your expense in order for the new card to work. That means upgrading your motherboard and possibly your CPU (processor).

Wow, you'd be pretty stupid not to take advantage of this if you have the urge to upgrade or aren't using your old AGP card (BFG brand of course).

OMG! I knew I shouldn't have sold that 6800 AGP on FS/FT...... Pretty awesome deal though for those with an old AGP sitting around. Wonder what BFG's incentive is though....I bet they got a huge order from the government or something for systems that could only use AGP graphics.

Old > Free or $50 Fee for ugpraded
[*]BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC 512MB AGP > BFG GeForce 9500 GT OC 1GB PCIe or BFG GeForce 9600 GT OC 512MB PCIe
[*]BFG GeForce 6800 OC 128MB AGP > BFG GeForce 9600 GT OC 512MB PCIe or BFG GeForce 9800 GT OC 512MB PCIe
[*]BFG GeForce 6800 GS OC 256MB AGP > BFG GeForce 9600 GT OC 512MB PCIe or BFG GeForce 9800 GT OC 512MB PCIe
[*]BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC 256MB AGP > BFG GeForce 9600 GT OC 512MB PCIe or BFG GeForce 9800 GT OC 512MB PCIe
[*]BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra OC 256MB AGP > BFG GeForce 9600 GT OC 512MB PCIe or BFG GeForce 9800 GT OC 512MB PCIe
[*]BFG GeForce 7800 GS OC 256MB AGP > BFG GeForce 9600 GT OC 512MB PCIe or BFG GeForce 9800 GT OC 512MB PCIe

Its probably just to clean up their books with an accounting change to contingencies/liabilities/warranties. They can eliminate any reserve they had for AGP warranties and just go forward with PCIE and use excess PCIE stock.

Shipping is probably $20-$25 though ya, $10 to send it to them, and the typical $10-15 these card companies charge for standard RMA service.

Gah, too bad my brother's BFG 6800 GT doesn't seem to be working anymore. Also, any idea if they tolerate you're replacing of the heatsink on the vid card?

Very nice offer. I sold my 6800GT on ebay two years ago, but I got close to what I originally paid for it so it's no loss.

Sweet! now I know what to do with my old 6800. I was just debating which video card to buy, too.

buddy of mine has a 7800GS in an old AGP system right now, however it's also still a working gaming system (a bit slow but it works), and we probably wouldnt have the budget to upgrade the rest of it right now, since he just spent $240 on a GTX260 Core 216 w/FC2 included, and we were planning on reusing his 9800GTX in another rig. that would be sick though, trading in a 7800GS for a 9800GT o_O

Time to buy an old BFG 6800 on ebay for $20 and swap it for a shiny new 9600GT.

Uh, you're probably thinking about certain ATI partners who charge you RMA processing fees. BFG does not.

If you don't do the upgrade to 9800 GT and just do the straight trade, this will only cost you shipping your card to BFG.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I just bought an EVGA 9800GTX which just replaced a 7800GS. I went from AGP to PCIe. This would have been perfect. CRAP!!!!

Not true.
Say if you want to step-up / eVGA.
You'd have to pay to ship back your card, and then pay eVGA to ship you the new card?
So $25 seems reasonable.

Yep that's right, I was going off EVGA's RMA policy, which does charge shipping. Even better that BFG doesn't charge for shipping! :)

This is pretty awesome. I wish they would accept my FX 5500 256mb 128-bit PCI video card.

Actually, because that video card is PCI, i'll find a use for it in something.
