I doze off near the end of the movie

so can someone please tell me who poisoned that guy?
what was the motive?

and if you have time, can you briefly explain the story to me?
I had a hard time understanding their accented english
 

well, it was the housekeeper that poisoned the guy and Stockbridge's valet that stabbed him. the housekeeper (the one that didn't like the head cook, her sister) is Stockbridge's valet's (smooth British guy that shared a room with Ryan Phillipe) mom. when she was working in a factory owned by McCordle (the dead guy) he got her pregnant and she put the kid up for adoption. later down the road he found out about it and so he came to the house to kill McCordle. when the mom saw the picture he kept in his room (the picture was of her) she knew who he was and what he was going to do, so she poisoned him before her son could kill him. there you go.
