What I don't understand is is how does Gore know what the correct count should be. How does he have access to all of the vote counts and know what they should be when the counties can't even get them counted in time.

Well they are finished counting now sorta, one county kinda stopped prematurely.. and add a possible 5000 bush absentees that are suspect.

At the bottom of the page are links to copies of the text of the letters sent to SOC Harris requesting extended time for the recounts.

Note that only one county actually addressed why extra time was needed &amp; not one county made any effort to say that they had made a diligent effort to meet the deadline &amp; had failed.

No county says anything like we have counted 35% or 10%, etc.

The one county that mentions time ( Broward ) also took time for holidays &amp; vacations... Yep she was on vacation so we didn't work.

Note the woman on vacation was a republican &amp; She was at GW's ranch in Texas. Haha ! The great republican conspiracy....

I think she is eligible for official Bushon status.... LOL

Every vote should count? Whadaya mean 'every'? How do you define 'every'? If every vote means &quot;all votes cast for Gore or not punched at all&quot;, then yes, every vote should be counted. Bush votes should be excluded from the count whereever possible.

Still, if you look at the florida election without bias and use only logic, then no one wins. I've seen several professors of statistics and political science say that a vote difference of such miniscule size is irrelevant. Its easily within the margin of error and all this bs is well bs The founding fathers should have created a provision for such a problem.. but they obviously didn't. As much as i don't like it, it seems they both can legitimately claim they have won. Its a shame the office can't be shared. Imagine bush and gore being forced to walk hand in hand everywhere they would go like in that one haloween eps of the simpsons hehe, creeepy!

back to being biased.. gore won the popular vote by ~337k votes bush camp has to stop claiming they have the will of the people.

No, I think the argument is that it was screwed up back then, is screwed up now, and will be screwed up for the next election if something is not done in the meantime. HOWEVER, those changes cannot be implemented now so that Gore wins instead of Bush AFTER the election is held.

Hah, you can't compare votes with count errors to baskets shot in basketball. The analogy would work if we had computer records of every vote and who they were from.

Yes i know its politically unfeasable, each party will try to get a technical win. I was just looking at it rationally.

tagej, not sad to most voters. Remember Gore is the popular choice even if he doesn't win. It is obligatory to the voting majority that he press on. Gore has the will of the people not Bush. It defies any objective and fair minded person's sense of justice to hand Bush the presidency when he lost the popular vote in the US and Florida. I can imagine how the Reps, with 'character' on their side, would be acting if the roles were reversed. It would doubtless be the work of the Debble.
