Be interesting to watch and see if this story makes the evening news.

Actually, any news outlet.

Thanks for the article.

I'm Typing I gather that you have never read the washington times then it is hardly a liberal news outlet. I don't support Bush but I just figured that gore would have learned that the truth would eventually come out.

The Washington Times is a stridently right wing rag. Gore does look like an idiot, if the story is true. But, this is a newspaper, remember? If half is true, it would be a miracle, particularly for The Washington Times.

Goes to show how media twists the facts. Gore should be saying "Seniors: Generic products work and can save you money." Animals and people have the same access to medications for the most part. The drug Lodine is a brand name, the "trade" name if you will...the generic or chemical name is etodolac and can be purchase instead of Lodine at a much more affordable price, even for humans. Its like saying you pay $3 for ibuprofen instead of $6 for Advil or Motrin. The dog version, what was it, umm etogesic, is just a marketed name for the GENERIC (which by definition is the same as the brand). I'm sure people can take etogesic just the same. Everyone, not just seniors, can save money by purchasing generics. The problem is that many seniors are not offered the knowledge and opportunity to purchase the generic. It is the pharmacist who should inform his/her consumers of affordable alternatives, but why would he/she when that is the only sorce of income left after medicaid and managed health care capitalize on the maximum allowable costs and formularies. The uninsured or "cash paying customers" are often the only true income left for the pharmacies. The other group that is under informed is the Spanish Speaking (well here in Texas, anyway). This is because they don't know how to ask for generic...they may only have a piece of paper with "advil" written on it that the doctor gave them. You tell them that ibuprofen is the same thing, can they trust you? No, they will get what the doctor said to get. I think both health care and the general public could benefit most by educating the consumer that generics DO work and save everyone money.
There are so many things wrong with this article its not funny. Drug prices are based on an average whole sale price which by the way is so high that a pharmacist would only dream of getting paid this amount. The retail cost is actually LOWER than the average wholesale price (AWP)because products are packaged in so many different ways. 1 - 5000 per bottle. AWP is now only used to calculate a target price to for the insurance companies to pay the pharmacies (profit and all), its not what the drug manufacturer's collect. Polititians say alot about things they have no knowledge about, obviously.
I got a littlw caried away. Sorry. HAve a nice day. :)

Yup, how'd you guess? If it ain't in the: 1. N.Y. Times, or 2. Washington Post, or 3. London Times, it ain't true. The Wall Street Journal is like Rush Limbaugh with a Texas A & M education. The Washington Times is a cross between the Inquirer and National Review. :p

Or do these quotes only apply when discussing stupid things Bush does?

Thunderbooty: I am an angry person. I am angry because there are so many supposedly intelligent people who would rather see a man like bushlite run this country than a man like Gore. If you ever lived in the state of Texas, you would be appalled at the way the state is run, and how corporate interests are always looked at first when it comes to the way the governemnt sets policy. I am no idiot, I know that the same thing can happen on the democratic side. But when a state leader gives carte blanche to polluters and allows the lawmen of the state to act like every small town is their persoanl fiefdom, it sets a poor example for his leadership abilities. When people refuse to see what he does (or, worse, condone it)and continue to support him, I get angry. To do less would be un-american.

LOL! It's not surprising that you'd say that, since those papers sold out to the Democratic party looooong before anyone else did, and continue to be the biggest propaganda presses in the nation today.

AL GORE DID FSCKING CONFIRM THE FACT THAT HE LIED YOU KNOW, I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A LITTLE MORE THAN SPECULATION AND HEARSAY.

It would be interesting to see if the NY Times and all of Ted Turner's corrupt media operations would actually do their job for once and report the truth to the American public.... Rather than act as the Democratic Party's personal Big Brother and conveniently sweep this under the rug. We can't have the American public knowing who the real Al Gore is can we. That is until 1984 can be realized, at which point it won't matter who thinks what, because the Democratic party will rule supreme (I'm sure this thought gives people like Chess and I'm Typing a boner, but quite frankly it scares me).

Ok, I'm so sorry I ventured in this thread, because now I have to set you poor ignorant people straight. All politicians are liars, neither of the candidates this year have any more intelligence than your average eight grader, neither Bush nor Gore have the people's interest in mind, and neither candidiate in this election is worthy of being our president. I think this may be the beginning of the end for the two party system.
