So many awesome hobbies, so little monies.....
That seemed like a long-ass paved runway for being out in the middle of nowhere with no services and no hangars, nothing. Do you know where that is?
much bigger than I thought the plane would be. They should make one 1.5x bigger and fit a small person in it.
The weight of a person would not allow it to fly.
As you can see, those planes are fairly light. A single man can pick it up, despite its size. For the plane to be able to carry a small person (about 50kg or 100 pounds) it would become heavier. The engine would become bigger, making it heavier. Thus the wing size has to increase and the amount of thrust the engine can generate must increase. For the plane itself to be able to handle all the forces acting upon it while in flight, it becomes heavier. All this comes to an end result that you have to scale it up a lot more than 1.5x .
EDIT:
I am amazed :
This plane only ways about 162kG with a jet engine.

there area many runways like that out and about. maybe it is an old private airstrip?
Found a reference in the comments:

Kind of boring. Though I am impressed by that wide open field. Where would you find something like that?
You can tell how light it is when he climbs right after the low fly-by of the landing strip. It's climb rate is absurd in ratio to weight, probably.
I see what you mean with respect to the climb rate.
Does it stall at around 2:30 ?
Or does it lose its RC signal and turns back automatically ?
Sigh... So much fun.
The sound of that engine. I love it.
Interesting youtube link you have there :

I don't think it was built for it originally. Pretty sure you don't need a 1300+ meter paved runway for RC stuff. ~100 meter will do.There is one near me as well. It's just an RC park.
would be cooler if he could get a live feed from the go pro to fly it. instead of by line of sight.

It's probably an old emergency-strip for crop-dusters and private flights. They have one like this out near my grandparent's farm in South TX.
It's aboot time the Canuckians got an Air Force...of sorts. Now if they could just strap some bombs to it and bomb ISIS/ISIL/TheMisogynisticThoughtPolice back to the stone age where they got their "morality" from...
Just kidding that was a cool vid thanks for sharing!
