I think the way it was spinning it somehow absorbed the energy, kinda like how parkour people land jumps. But yeah quite impressive.

Those plastic cases GoPros live in are pretty strong, and it landed in soft dirt, not hard pavement.

I've known quite a few people who have lost them while jumping and then recovered them. Hell, I've even seen the footage from one 15min after it hit the ground, but it was from a hard opening that caused the girls helmet to pop off at 5k ft.
