"Values voters," if they can even be called such a thing without breaking into laughter, are the worst kind of voters. Instead of casting votes designed to improve our country, they instead vote to limit other's freedoms. And limiting freedom is about the most Un-American activity I can possibly think of.

Sen. Tom Coburn?s (R-Okla.) Chief of Staff: ?All Pornography Is Homosexual Pornography?

One of the final events of the Values Voter Summit was a Saturday breakout session on ?the new masculinity,? a wide-ranging topic that one speaker used to explain how any and all pornography could lead young people into homosexual lifestyles. That speaker was Sen. Tom Coburn?s (R-Okla.) chief of staff Michael Schwartz, a longtime conservative activist who has worked for the senator since 2005.

?Pornography is a blight,? Schwartz told an audience in a crowded room of the Omni Shoreham hotel. ?It is a disaster. It is one of those silent diseases in our society that we haven?t been able to overcome very well. Now, I may be getting politically incorrect here. And it?s been a few years, but not that many, since I was closely associated with pre-adolescent boys, boys around 10 years of age. But it is my observation that boys of that age have less tolerance for homosexuality than just about any other class of people. They speak badly about homosexuality. And that?s because they don?t want to be that way. They don?t want to fall into it.?

Schwartz told the crowd about Jim Johnson, a friend of his who turned an old hotel into a hospice for gay men dying of AIDS. ?One of the things he said to me,? said Schwartz, ?that I think is an astonishingly insightful remark? he said ?All pornography is homosexual pornography, because all pornography turns your sexual drive inwards.?

There were murmurs and gasps from the crowd. ?Now, think about that,? said Schwartz. ?And if you tell an 11-year-old boy about that, do you think he?s going to want to get a copy of Playboy? I?m pretty sure he?ll lose interest. That?s the last thing he wants! You know, that?s a good comment, it?s a good point, and it?s a good thing to teach young people.?

Wow...just wow. Turns out nearly every guy is gay. Brilliant thinking by the right-wing radicals who pulled over the Teabag Express for the Value Voters conference.

I'm sure he also implies that even looking at near porn, ie swimsuit ads, bikini pix, Maxim, etc is also gay because it creates "inward sexual drive," nevermind that inward drive is to nail hot chicks [tho perhaps that's not what he is thinking....] If not, where is the gay line? They should make a PSA. If I see a nip, is that gay? What about one just thru a wet swimsuit or tight shirt? Or do we need full bush, maybe some penetration? What about two chicks just making out? What about one of those beer ads where the chick is just holding a beer bottle upto her lips with that look that lets you know she really wishes it was a cock?
What if my wife/gf makes a homemade porno and I watch it..? Can a husband be gay for his wife? If I'm in it with the 36V dewalt, does that mean I'm gay for myself?

Considering this line of reasoning, I can see how the arabs manged to stuff all their women in burkas, lest they be temped by "inward sexual drive."

Teabaggers are much better off for 2010 if than can manage to just hold angry protests, and never, under any circumstance, calm down enough to talk about their own ideas, for anything, lest they be exposed for the raving idiots they still were under Bush and the last GOP congress.

I have a serious problem with Sen. Tom Coburn thinking about porn and 10 year old boys at the same time.

No kidding. He should be chaperoned every time he uses a public restroom.

as Jon Stewart explained, porn makes you touch your cock, touching your cock makes you think 'I think I would also enjoy other cocks'.

There is this mindset among a lot of the GOP that it's some sort of struggle not to be gay. If you feel this way, YOU ARE GAY, deal with it and stop spewing stupid.

I always wondered this myself... there are numerous references about the 'struggle' against homosexuality as if every guy has to fight for his straightness. I'm straight, and I've never had to work at it a day in my life. In fact sometimes I wish I were a little less straight, as I always seem to get myself in trouble with women.

It makes me wonder what the orientation of some of these people is, considering they seem to believe it's normal to fight in order to be heterosexual.

A "values voter" is what you say you are when you don't want to put down on paper the real issues that are influencing your vote.

If you just dislike one of the candidates personally, or think the other would be a good guy to drink a beer with, or want to vote for the guy who belongs to the same sect of Christianity as you do, or you've always voted for one party without looking at the issues and plan to do so again, or think one candidate is a secret kenyan-muslim-terrorist, or any other dumb reason that you don't want to articulate in public as the issue that's driving your voting preferences, then you're a "values voter".

This "summit " is comedy gold. With big red, white and blue stars projected on the walls, and Jesus Christ being thanked by every other speaker, the summit is pitching itself as the last refuge for patriotic, God-fearing Americans in the age of Athiests and Obama and his death panels.

One of their star speakers Carrie Prejean wants you to know it hasn't been easy for her:

"There was something wrong with turning on the TV and seeing people mock me for my faith," "Seeing people make fun of me for being a Christian, trying to discredit me, trying to embarrass me - it didn't make sense to me."

There is little difference between Christian conservatives and Islamic conservatives. They both hate homosexuals, have little regard for women, and they both enjoy their martyrs.Prejean is just the latest Christian martyr. In their minds, she lost her crown because of her Christian beliefs. And now she is fighting for her lord. Their base is delusional, but their leadership knows they can play these people for money and power. I'd like to see Carrie Prejean give up cosmetics and silk like the bible says. She's nothing but a tarted up whore according the ancient Middle Eastern tribal standards she claims to value.

She was, like ohmygawd! They aren't impressed by my fake pornstar titties! They are actually noting that my so-called "faith" and my actions don't match up.They are attacking my faith!" Carrie, nothing makes sense to you. You are a whiny, spineless twit who was unhappy with what God gave you, so you thought you'd one-up him with rubber bumpers. God failed her. If her God wanted her to be Miss America she would have given her bigger tits, and not forced her to turn to a plastic surgeon for them. And she would have made Perez Hilton into a real pig instead of a two legged one. With those "qualifications," you could run for Governor. I hear there's an opening in Alaska left by another whiny dipshit beauty queen. Carrie should get in touch with that other beauty queen, Anita Bryant. "Faith" worked out real well for her.

God chose her for that moment. To shine a light on the evil that lurks behind the self-satisfaction of religiosity, smugness in one's own save-ed-ness, self-righteous condemnation and judgments against people who are different, and the glib denial of equality for others. God chose her for that moment to expose the religious right (once again) as a ridiculous band of hypocrites who can't even see WHY they're ridiculous, and "can't believe it" when people point it out to them.

Jesus would be appalled. The extreme politicization of todays Christianity is (one of) the reasons that it has become philosophically and morally bankrupt. Jesus was the original "giver" - turning over the tables of the "money changers" and encouraging everyone to give away everything you have to others and be poor. His challenge to the economic system was one of the reasons they killed him - not for any of that mystical mumbo-jumbo.

The connection between these right-wing free marketeers and Christianity has always been a mystery to me. Is it time to declare groups like the Values Voter Summit and the evangelicals that back them taxable. This is a political action group.

Sexuality is only a struggle if you are repressing it for religious or other reasons.

Ummm.... The putz making the statement is the Chief of Staff of a sitting U.S. Senator at "one of the final events of the "Values Voter Summit." Care to explain exactly who comprises that "Values Voter Summit" and why a sitting U.S. Senator and his Chief of Staff were speakers? While you're at it, you can explain the presence of other religious right wingnut Republican speakers, including:

Rep. Michele Bachmann
Gary Bauer
Bill Bennet
Ken Blackwell (RNC Vice Chairman)
Rep. Roy Blunt
Rep. John Boehner
Rep. Eric Cantor
Gov. Mike Huckabee
Sen. Mitch McConnell
Ed Meese
Bill O'Reilly
Gov. Tim Pawlenty
Gov. Rick Perry
Carrie Prejean
Rep. Tom Price
Gov. Mitt Romney
Rep. Chris Smith

Nope... No Republican viewpoints here.

Who organized this fuster cluck? FRC Action, the "legislative action arm of the religious right wingnut Family Research Council."

About FRC Action

Fighting for the American Family

FRC Action (formerly American Renewal), the non-profit and tax-exempt legislative action arm of Family Research Council, was founded in 1992 to educate the general public and cultural leaders about traditional American values and to promote the philosophy of the Founding Fathers concerning the nature of ordered liberty.

FRC Action is a 501(c)(4), non-profit education and lobbying organization based in Washington, D.C. FRC Action is dedicated to preserving and advancing the interests of family, faith, and freedom in the political arena.

FRC Action has underwritten the costs of video campaigns on public policy issues, supported advocacy advertising on these issues, and provided the nation's political parties with information on traditional American values.

FRC Action seeks to fortify the traditional foundations of civil society through efforts to educate, inform and influence elected officials in support of the country's historic ideals of equality under the law, and the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness on which the nation was founded.

Nope... No political agenda here.

See above... If it helps you to keep track, it was far more than "one idiotic member of the GOP." They had enough sitting and ex-Republican politicians and other "idiotic members of the GOP" that you'd need extra fingers and toes to count. :Q

And don't forget the intellectual musings of the silicone enhanced and be-coned Carrie Prejean (who can't count that high). :p

^ Again, because one person got up and said something, everyone in the room believed that as well.

I guess that means that Rev. Wright spoke for everyone in his Church and religion when he said the Jews are keeping him from speaking to Obama, and that the CIA gives crack to blacks.

I'm guessing it's a pretty safe bet that most people in the audience were in general agreement with this particular speaker.

Agan, it wasn't "one person" getting up to say something very stupid and bigoted. It was a gathering of religious right wingnuts sponsored by the religious right wingnut "Family Research Council." Who do you think attends such a circle jerk?

I guess you can believe whatever you wish. You may want to do some reality checking before you act on your assumptions.
