Edited: OP's original thread title ("GOP senators call for war with Iran") is inaccurate, alarmist and ignores the basic premise of the article (having Israel carry out attack on Iranian nuke facility is problematic etc). The article's title has therefor been substitued for that of the OP.

Guess Iraq is not enough fun. We definitely need another $1 trillion dollar

Not surprising. If the pugs thought obama was pro-war, they'd be against it. sop for the grand obstructionist party.

It's seriously way past time for every politician in the nation to be tried for treason and insanity, and hung in a public ceremony. There's not a one of em left who has the least grasp on sanity, or the brains God gave a kumquat.

What crisis? Iran is years away from a bomb by our own admission. The US has scant evidence of Iran actually trying to make a nuclear bomb. This situation is about as ideal as you can get to engage and re-establish relations with Iran. Both sides have mistrust, of course, but both sides have been willing to engage each other. And contrary to belief, the Mullahs of Iran are not crazy-insane. Just about every decision they have made is to ensure their own power in the country. They aren't ideal partners, but they aren't Al Qaeda.

I mean compare this to North Korea. NK already has the bomb, is selling the tech to other nations, and has a batshit crazy leader in KJ. And we still want to engage them every chance we get. Why do we want to go to war in Iran, when we can't even say they have the bomb nor the inclination to go for the bomb. Why Iran instead of North Korea? By nearly every standard, North Korea is the bigger threat than Iran.

Ummm, sorry, but NOBODY is a threat to us. If necessary 10% of our military could conquer the entire world in less time than we spent in Iraq. We have the entire world combined trumped on military spending and buildup.

The only credible 'threats' to us are terrorist ones, and those cannot be effectively combated with the military since it's an idea and not a nation or a people.

It dam sure better! I see no horse and no race in Iran...

Let Israel do what they want doing. If they want to invade Iran it should be on their nickle.

Negative. There's no real criticism of Obama's foreign policy coming from the Republicans. They'll support troop increases in Afghanistan, and if the "exit date" for Iraq needs to be pushed back, he'll get no qualms from them either. The only real anti-war sentiment is coming from progressives on the Left, and from libertarians on the Right.

Every indication is that IRAN already has all the info necesary to make a nuclear bomb.

To think that they are *years* away from it is naive and in denial. I would not be surprised to see some test detinations this year, much like we already had with NK.

This isn't true at all. Our military (all of it) could probably defeat the combined armed forces of the rest of the world, depending on the situation. Conquer the rest of the world? Don't make me laugh. We couldn't conquer Iraq.

Information is not difficult to come by for how to make a nuclear bomb, and it is not the determining component of if a country becomes nuclear or not.

You're more than welcome to think that nearly the entire intelligence community of the world is 'naive and in denial', but it seems to me that you don't have a lot of knowledge on this subject. Iran is not detonating a nuclear weapon this year, period. Anyone who thinks otherwise is foolish or ill-informed.

And what if they were. What if me, and these dipshit senators, all agreed that we would go over and attack Iran. Would that be OK then?

Remarkable how our own desperately crazed wingnuts point the finger at somebody else, claim that those guys are crazy-er...

But there's nothing like a lot of saber rattling and even a nice war to divert attention from the inevitable consequences of the recent top down looting spree...

How's your 401K doing? Your pension fund? What about that variable rate mortgage, credit card interest and healthcare premium? What about your savings, insured by the near bankrupt FDIC? How's your job holding up and/or how many more weeks of unemployment can you get, anyway?

Nah- don't fret over that stuff, worry about teh ebil eye-ray-nyun mooslims on the other side of the world... and go shopping for more chinese goods you don't even need, to, uhh, stimulate the economy, support the lootocracy, yeh, that's it...
