GOP senators pledge to block all bills until Bush tax cuts extended

And I voted for one of them. Granted he would have won anyway without my vote but still... *sigh*

At least the GOP has some solidarity I guess. They might suck, but who knows? Maybe they'll get some stuff done, accidentally improving some aspects in the process.

Doing the will of The People. Awesome!

Obama and the dems still don't get it. The message from them is now "Americans voted for compromise this November." instead of the failed "We didn't communicate the agenda good enough." No assholes, we voted to STOP OBAMA.

Good. An OP quit the blathering about the richest 1%. Stop your class warfare.

I think tax rates should be the same for everyone beyond poverty level income, but this is not the hill on which I would wish to (politically) die. Better to compromise and get some of what they want here, and some of what they want on other issues like cutting spending. Considering that tax rates will rise for everyone if nothing is passed, the Democrats are in a stronger position as they will get what they want on this issue even if everything is stopped and they are unlikely to get much of what they want through a Republican House anyway.

Dems should call their bluff and put up something extremely popular like more body armor for troops or something, and have GOP block it.

Really? Their single top priority is tax cuts for the very richest Americans, to the exclusion of all else?

Actually I too love the GOP strategy so much that I advocate the dems do the same. And when the GOP can't get their tax cuts for only the very rich part through, they can at the same block extending Tax cuts to all the other lower income brackets also.

And the American people will so love the GOP for their do nothing stand when this time, the GOP failed to notice they had to co-operate for a change or take credit for a higher tax rates for everyone.

But as we all know, the GOP is a one trick pony and only knows how to block any progress with a filibuster. And now that their goal fails when they filibuster, the GOP braindead stooges threaten to filibuster anyway. Filibuster is all the GOP knows how to do anymore.

Like that's a good thing for a bad agenda. Hey, at least the local drug-dealing street gang has solidarity. Hey, at least the 1941 Japanese have solidarity.

Just put up the bill to extend the tax cuts for those making under 250k and let them block it. Hahahaha...

I find this news disappointing and a little shocking, I think everyone knew this would be their unstated position, but to just come straight out and declare extending tax cuts for the richest americans to be their #1 priority and threatening to filibuster any other legislation is just childish and only hurts perception of the GOP in the long run.

Extended <> Resolved

Senate GOP pledges to block all bills until tax dispute resolved
Senate Republicans promised Wednesday to block legislative action on every issue being considered by the lame-duck Congress until the dispute over extending the Bush-era tax cuts is resolved and an extension of current government funding is approved.

Excellent first step. They need to force the administration to work with them.

First, no, they don't - Obama is racing over to their side 'compromising' except it's not compromising because he's just giving them what they want for nothing in return.

Second, 'work with them' doesn't mean '"NO COMPROMISE!!!!!" they get everything they want.

Third, they have an agenda for screwing over almost all American that's corrupt and evil.

Welcome to what we've been saying about the Republicans for a long time.

They'll blow smoke if you let them about flag waving and phony issues, but force them into taking an important position and their true colors are revealed.

Cut everyone else, but give MORE to the very top at a time when the very top have been skyrocketing in wealth at unprecedented rated for decades, and of high deficits.

Don't know why you haven't heard it for years but glad to see you are hearing it.

Hey, when you're new on the job, you do what your masters tell you to do. The amazing thing about the story is that the GOP can so brazenly announce their contempt for "The People," secure in knowing their idiot fan-bois will continue to kneel at their feet and lap it all up as being good for America.

Yep, and look at how happy all the GOP nuthuggers are! You can't make this shit up. The party of No continues to roll blissfully along.

This isn't politics, this is a naughty child holding its breath until it gets its way. The Republicans just get stupider and stupider. And people like Spidey are proving it. He's advocating a position here that's in opposition to his own position! You want fiscal responsibility but you want to extend tax cuts that over their lifetime cost America more than healthcare reform, TARP, and the stimulus combined by adding to the debt and hurting the economy.

Wanna fix the economy, stop Republicans. The right constantly attacks when Obama call the republicans obstructionist, here they are freely admitting to being just that! DEMOCRAT policies were actually starting a fix to the economy, not republican. Republican policies caused it and will cause it again if they have their way.

Let them all expire - it amounts to dick literally, even if you make 100K a year.

What a pathetic display of outright cocksucking, "stop the class warfare!"

Yes I agree, fucking stop it, roll back the tax cuts.
