Could the turtle's majority hopes be in peril?

"New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu said Tuesday he won't run against Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) next year, denying Republicans a top recruit for a crucial Senate race in 2022.

Sununu, the popular GOP governor, has been outrunning Hassan in the early polls, despite now-President Joe Biden’s 7-point victory in New Hampshire last year. Sununu won reelection by 22 points on the same ballot."

He's not wrong that being a governor with a positive approval rating is just factually a more pleasurable gig than sitting in the senate. Same reasons why Hogan and Baker don't run. Also his approval looked to be sinking a bit as a senate bid became more possible signaling voters might not entirely dig it.

Sununu was McConnell's #1 potential recruit fort the 2022 cycle.

The GOP is well past needing to field credible candidates with name recognition to win elections. The propaganda machine works. Any lackey willing to spout Trump truther talking points and bend over for donor money will fit the bill and have a fighting chance against Hassan.

Witness Edward Durr.

Sweeney was a corrupt dbag so I'm not sorry to see him go. Of course getting replaced by a jackwagon isn't all that great, but I think Sweeney gone is not a bad thing.

Yeah, it's actually good news for Murphy even with slimmed majorities.

Fetterman seems like he should just clean house in PA. He's sort of the style of candidate Dems need to bring in the blue collar class.

Culturally he does seem well fitted to the PA electorate.

I do not see anything happening in favor of the Democrats in the current senate class, but if both Maine and Pennsylvania flip to Democrat senate seats in 2024, Democrats may have a chance of getting things done.

One a side note, I keep wondering why does someone like Lisa Murkowski is on the side of Republicans. I barely can see any difference between her and Manchin. The same with Susan Collins. Imagine if those to were Democrats, probably the Democrats would be able to stay in control of the Senate, even if they loose a seat or two. The fact the Murkowski was one of the Republicans that voted with the Democrats to break the filibuster of breaking the debt ceiling does show something.
