The GOP has done pretty much everything wrong over the past few years and shot itself in the foot repeatedly, so they are now a small minority in congress and out of the white house. Fortunately for the GOP, the dems, led by loons like Pelosi and her ilk, have made people keenly aware that no matter how bad your government looks, it can always get worse.

The dems have done the GOP a great service. They've shown independents what their plans are, people are starting to wake up to the frightning reality of just how badly the three headed monster of Pelosi / Reid / Obama can wreck the country. Now it's showing up in fundraising.

GOP fundraising boost

Note: normally, during midterm elections, the party in power raises way more funds than the other party.

When Obama and the (D)'s were stomping a mud hole in the (R)'s in fund raising we heard accusations and implications of fraud. Where are the calls from the right to investigate this influx of money? This is abnormal so clearly there *must* be fraud involved.

I think it is a common theme in our politics. Whichever party is in power gets the shit beat out of them and people turn to the other. Sadly I dont think we as a nation have a true political soul anymore as we turn to these two parties to represent us.

The only calls I heard were for Obama's campaign due to the unbelievable influx of money. Sometimes from people who couldnt be verified as real people.

Very true, especially when most of the morons screaming socialism don't know what it means.

The OP stated it's abnormal for the minority party to out fund raise the party in power. Where did it come from? Can the source be verified? This influx of money must be investigated!

Yes, actually, the sources of this money are in fact documented, especially since most of it is in larger denominations.

The fact that the minority party is raising more than the party in power just indicates that the people are energized, much like the dems were energized for Obama prior to last election. Unlike the Obama cash though, there's nothing unusual about the amounts, just that the minority party is raising it.

Yes, "raising cash" now translates into "running scared", and everyone who is against socialist policies must be a racist.

What are you talking about? The Dems started raising more cash before the 06 elections than the Republicans thanks to Deans efforts. I dont think it is uncommon at all.

It's uncommon for the minority party to raise more than the party in power during mid-term elections. When it does happen, it usually signals a shift in public attitude more than fund raising efforts. The '06 election is another good example: the public was clearly beginning the shift towards the democrats after growing tired of the repubs.

Yes, it was veeeery unusual to see people contribute to the party that was opposing the possibility of McCain/Palin continuing the failed policies of the (R)'s. Who could have predicted that?

FFS I've never contributed to a political campaign before and I contributed twice last year.

They're not necessarily racist, they are just scared, so much so that they even came up with a new definition for Socialism

Don't forget communist, Marxist, and Nazi.

I'm in a local store to ship some documents yesterday and sitting on the cash register was a pamphlet with Obama's logo and 'ObamaCare' next to it. The 'C' was a sickle and hammer. I was tempted to take my business elsewhere but I was on lunch and needed to get them shipped ASAP.

Anger translates to political action, and the Republicans, if they know nothing else, know how to stoke the outrage in their base.

Ok? That doesnt have any bearing on this not being an unprecedented situation.

Who is in more denial here? Somebody acting like the Republicans motivating their base is something new? Or the guy who acknowledges this has happened before?

And so? What does it matter if or when it's happened before? Does that change reality for you?

This has nothing to do with independents at all. I don't know if you said it because the NRSC guy did, but fundraising doesn't come from independent voters, it comes from your base. If you check out the polling on the issue, you'll see that while independents identify less with the Democrats than they did a year ago, they still hate the Republicans just as much as they ever have.

Why would it? I am not acting like this is the first time this has ever happened. Look in the mirror and determine if you are living in reality or a made up world.
