Yes, I know that. I don't consider that "trying to do something about earmarks", though. A 2yr earmark hiatus is no more significant than a single grain of sand on the beach. It's lip service, fueled by nothing but political expediency.
I'm not going to speculate motives as you have done. This all boils down as to whether you prefer your glass half-full or whether you prefer it totally empty...in hope that someone with impeccable motives comes along eventually to fill it to your liking.

Assuming you really care about earmarks...is there not hypocrisy in giving a "pass" to those who did nothing on one hand and then criticize those who at least made some effort on the other? And therein lies the rub.

Show me a regular in P&N who doesn't already know about senseamp's preferences.

There isn't one, that's why it was fun, as everyone could enjoy the laugh.

No, I'm not telling you that.. nor am I asking you to do the same.

Yet, you are, as instead of being OK with me making fun of senseamp, you wanted me to state a given. I don't feel the need to state givens, yet, you want me to make posts as such prior to doing anything else, else you wouldn't say things like:

"I applaud your late in the game post critical of politicians in general, and if it would've come earlier in the thread than before I started talking about hypocrisy, there wouldn't have been a problem."

Half full? A 2yr ban on earmarks is "half full" to you? Disappointing, but not totally unexpected.

There would be, if a "pass" were given.

I couldn't really care less if you made fun of senseamp, but by stating one set of givens instead of another you color yourself a terrible shade of "shill".

I understand what you're saying, just please realize, it's more fun to me to make fun of senseamp - who is a total shill for the Dem's - than stating things like, Water is wet....fire is hot...if you slam your finger in a door, it will hurt...etc.

Possibly stating givens such as those is more entertaining to you, who knows...it's not for me though.

Do you now want to argue semantics and minutia? Come on....it's a hell of a lot better than a sharp stick in the eye.

If that's the comparison, nearly anything qualifies.. but that's not the comparison we have.

Did I miss your previous posts criticizing the Dems on this issue?

You've apparently missed a lot of my posts.

If you think there's a difference between making fun of senseamp and stating things like water is wet, fire is hot, etc. then you clearly don't understand what I'm saying.

No, I get what you're saying...but senseamp posts on this forum, neh, he is the OP. Water, fire, etc. don't post here and don't start threads like this. Nor, unfortunately, our politicians.

At the moment...there's no third option on the table that's to your liking (or to mine for that matter). We both apparently want the same thing, but it's interesting the contrast in our attitudes towards getting something that is clearly better than what we had. I chose to hope that this will eventually lead to something better.

That's not relevant to the fact that both his preferences and the particulars of politicians are givens.

I do not have hope that this proposal will matter or lead to something better.

So you wanted me to rail on a politician getting pork for his state, a given, and not rail on senseamp creating a no sh1t thread and then being a hypocrite as this politicians behavior is exactly what he and his masters want/do?

Help me out here, as it seems like we're going in circles...

It would've been more reasonable for you to either "rail" on both or none at all.. and not to "rail" on the other only after someone else questioned the matter.

Fine.

I look forward to all your future posts here, that ought to be pages long in length, where you "rail" on everything possible in your first initial post so as to get everything evenly "rail'd" on, or, not post at all.

This ought to be interesting...

When it comes to "givens" related to the topic, I often do.

So if I do a search on your name in P&N, the first post you make in every thread should be paragraphs long, and cover each and every possible topic that one could possibly cover, correct?

And you're committing to such in each and every first post you'll make in P&N again, correct?

The first post, no.. and not in every thread. Not every thread in which I've posted in here is like this one in the ways we've been discussing. It also won't take someone else pointing out givens I've not mentioned to get me to talk about them.

And you're committing to such in each and every first post you'll make in P&N again, correct?

There's a 100% chance of "maybe".

So you want me to post a certain way, yet won't commit to it yourself? You don't follow it already yourself?

How.....political....

I don't really "want" anything from you. By all means, post whatever you want however you want to. I reserve the right to criticize it.

Well, as long as your criticize everything else possible pertaining to the thread in the same post, or prior to, when you criticize mine, then that's perfectly OK. Agreed?

Damn, this thread is stupid.

We start with a blurb about who might be named committee head, then move on to criticize politicians who haven't yet assumed office for things they haven't yet done.

WTH?

FFS, the Dems still control both the House and Senate.
