I hope the Trump voting workers die over the decent workers, if there's any damn justice left in the world.
This is so true. I used to have an OSHA covered job that required employees to have a half hour paid lunch and two ten minute breaks and I told my bosses I hated to take them but would so they wouldn't get in any trouble with the Feds. I could never understand why people wanted breaks when working was so much fun. You tale a micro torch to the plug in connector to a squib and you have an explosive bolt that separates the stages on a rocket carrying a nuclear war head. And then you do it again and again and again. Weeeeee! This will probably be popular with the poorly educated, just a bunch of hassle what keeps you from gittin' th'work done.
Maybe you should step back and look at to why they fined you, starting with the reason behind the regulation. If I recall correctly, aren't you in AZ, where it gets to be mighty hot in the summer? The requirement isn't just for the employees health and protection, it's also for you the employer. Because if a employee becomes dehydrated and has medical issues due to it, or injures themselves/others, or worse yet, dies due to it.. If you dont't have that record, you become liable, which could put you out of business and cost you your business/trade license. I am not going to get into why the tape on the electrical cord is an issue, that should be common sense. It would be different if it was just your own personal cord at home. But at the end of the day, you where not finded out of the blue, because OSHA issues warnings, and gives employers the opportunity to correct the violations, in almost all situation unless it was an extreme violation and someone was hurt. The exception is if you have repeated violations of the same statute, but there again, that means you had multiple opportunities to correct the violation. OSHA is not to blame here, you are, because of your negligence of not doing what you are required to do for the safety of your employees, yourself, and your customers.OSHA is overall a very good thing, but it needs to be brought under control. I was fined because I didn't have my written log proving that I asked every employee every hour if they needed a drink, and what their response was. I paid another fine because an extension cord had a piece of tape on it.
Shit man that sounds a lot like personal responsibility, be careful just swinging that shit around so haphazardly.Maybe you should step back and look at to why they fined you, starting with the reason behind the regulation. You may think it's bullshit, and they are out of control trying to keep people safe, but the regulations in most cases are there to protect you, your employee, and your customers. All you have to do is do what you are supposed to do, and you won't get fined. Not a difficult concept.
It's fucking weird when one is expected to keep business records to make sure regulations are being followed.OSHA is overall a very good thing, but it needs to be brought under control. Maybe I'm overthinking things, but isn't the solution to just have a paper grid like they hang in bathrooms to track cleaning. Write employee name on line, and just have checkbox for "asked about water/response"? Business records are hard...It's fucking weird when one is expected to keep business records to make sure regulations are being followed.

Pretty much, anything you can audited on you need to keep artifacts to be able to prove your assertions that you are following the process.Maybe I'm overthinking things, but isn't the solution to just have a paper grid like they hang in bathrooms to track cleaning.
