GOP hypocrisy of the week.

That they are running terrorist video footage in their ads while at the same time criticizing CNN for showing terrorist video footage from Iraq?

It's because they are using it to play on people's fears. Same thing they have used in every election since 9-11. Doesn't even surprise me anymore. However I am surprised that people keep falling for it. We are no safer now than we were before 9-11, in my opinion. However the GOP wants you to think that you are, and that they are the ones who are protecting you.

Edited for spelling.

GOP's hypocrisy has been visible since the beginning of this administration. The scare mongering tactics are to fire up their base.

Not smart enough to realize the GOP's footage doesn't show snipers killing American troops?

CNN took a video straight from terrorists and put that propaganda on the air in a direct attempt to influence the upcoming election.

Actually it's the other way around. The GOP footage is a direct attempt to influence the upcoming election. The CNN footage is current events.

Good, need all the ammunition possible against the Republican brainwashing machine.

Sadly it won't be enough.

Most people I have been talking to say they will still vote Republican.

Bingo, but Pabster makes an error in every post in the political forum.

How many voters will note who was president during the filming of the terrorist footage? How many will note the Iraq war *increased* the threat from terrorism?

Of course the GOP footage doesn't show it, but it shows the terrorists Bush can't catch, UBL and Al-Z delivering their message. I think it's outrageous that other media is not reporting that our soldiers are being shot at with impunity in Iraq. I've seen on youtube a video of dozens of US soldiers shot in broad daylight. So it's by no means new, but we don't hear about it on US media until CNN brought it up.
The CNN video is pretty tame compared to that:

Y'know, if you all quit talking about Iraq, things will get better over there. Rainbows and Sunshine and Puppies and Kitties for all! Flowers at our feet, dancing in the streets....

Why must some of you keep bringing reality into the dream?

Right-wing ideology versus the truth.

So the enemy of course is CNN for telling the truth.

That's the problem, the right chooses 'victory' over anything - our values, our constitution, the truth - and thereby destroys what they say they're defending.

It's a scary thought 10 years from now when the Pentagon will be more able to fight such wars without so many US casualties, as their only constraint.

They'll be more and more able to use unmanned weapons and space-based systems and such. A bush with that at his disposal is a terrible thing for worldwide freedom.

The Right-wingers don't like it when the public can see it's real lives at stake in this conflict. They'd much rather be able to sit by the wayside and say: "gotta fight the war on terror... as long as it doesn't cost me anything..."

Much like the fallout years ago when Nightline was going to run the names of those troops who died in service in Iraq at that time - and these "hawks" wanted it to not be viewed by the public...

I am not sure what the CNN video thing is about.

But the MSM has a tendency to allow the terror groups far more a platform than they really should.

Remember the CNN reporter being shown around a Lebanon area after Israel had bombed it? Total propaganda by Hezbollah, and the reporter admitted it afterwards. As he said they showed him only what they wanted him to see, and due to the situation he didn't have the time or ability to see what they might have been hiding from him. (Say the remains of the dozen rockets that Hezbollah launched from the area 15 minutes before the attack)

Ad to this the "extra smoke" AP photos, green helmet guy, and the loading and unloading of dead children for maximum media effect and you get a picture of how well the terrorists are at using our own media against us.
Anyone remember the story of Israel's "missile attack" on an ambulance? Complete with burned out ambulance with hole on the roof? Looked really good, until you realized that the hole on the roof was the exact size and shape of the missing siren, and the fact that the rest of the ambulance was covered in rust.

On the flip side, how many MSM stories do we get that portray terrorists in a negative light? We get body counts and pictures of the damage they have done. But when is the last time the MSM did an in depth report on the awful things some of these groups are engaging in?
Perhaps we don't see these stories because the MSM wants to maintain their relationships with these groups in order to use them as sources. (Plus for thier own protection. I imagine if CNN went on an "all terrorists are bad" kick they would find themselves being targets of the terrorists.)

No offense... But if I met you I'd probably do the opposite of whatever you said you were going to do too. 😛

I thought it was very disturbing, more so than the CNN piece. The most disturbing part to me is these guys can just do it in broad daylight, and nothing happens to them, you'd think if they took a shot at our troops, and we had enough people on the ground, we should be able to surround and kill them. If we aren't going to control the ground, why are we putting our troops out there as sitting ducks?

It won't be enough for what? Would you rather have CNN not fade to black and show all the footage showing the spatter of the soldier's blood? Would you support that if you believed it would "be enough" to change minds to not vote Republican? I have a feeling you think the pictures at Abu Grab were more offensive than what's shown in these gut wrenching videos, showing the death of our American solders!

Snipers have been shooting at our soldiers since World War I, this is not news. Good guys and bad guys shoot at each other, that's what happens in war! The fact such a tape would suddenly surface at CNN just before an election is not really surprising. This is stuff the American people do not want to see! And it's no accident CNN's ratings continue to plummet because of this kind of stuff. This will backfire (again) as CNN blatantly attempts to garner public relations benefits for the insurgency as it depicts the tragedies that were shown.

Ding Ding Ding

Snipers have been attacking coalition forces for almost 4 years now in Iraq. The fact that CNN decides to take a propaganda video directly from terrorists and air it a couple weeks before the election should come as no surprise to those familiar with the Clinton News Network.

Watching Anderson Cooper try to explain "why" they did it was rather comical.

BS. Abu Graihb is definitely worse, no question about it. It's sad that US Soldiers are being killed, but as many like to point out when Iraqi Civilians get killed, it's just part of war. Abu Grhaib, however, is not part of war, it's part of Criminal Actions that should never have happened.
