Apparently its the GOP not McCain's campaign (whatever) The question is, will it work?

I dont think so... These aired for 2 weeks straight on all news channels (yes, even the liberal media ones). So ther is no new news here. The public has already decided its not important, and Obama has reputiated the remarks.

8 days before the election?

The electorate has already solidified.

not only will it not work, it will backfire

One word to describe this "strategy" and it will be the FIRST word out of the Obama's camp:

desperation.

Only the "My Country Right or Wrong" types or the Racist "Christian's" who didn't object to Falwell(and other's)making similar statements find anything truly objectionable with Rev Wright's statements. Mouth Breathers and Slow Witted are the only ones who can be fooled into making the link with Obama a Voting issue.

What about Hagee and Falwell, their own hateful post-9/11 comments, and McCain's close relationships to them? What about Palin's anti-semitic Pastor?

The greatest problem with McCain's desperate mudslinging campaign IMO is that all he ever seems to do is throw rocks from inside a glass house. The McCain faithful can't seem to see this because they are blinded to his faults, and assume some kind of Obamessiah phenomenon, but the reality is that everyone else, especially independents, are simply bemused by McCain's consistently ill-conceived political strategies.

The real problem that I see is that McCain has almost no chance to win the election at this point. (not no chance, but a very small one) All he is doing at this point is whipping up about a third of the country into a frenzy about Obama. This won't make McCain win the election, but it will make governing more difficult for Obama. Strange from a campaign that bills itself "country first".

If GOP had some brains left, it would use these resources to try to salvage some battleground congressional seats instead of wasting it on McCain's lost cause.

The Christian right won it for Bush in 2004. They came in during the final weeks and gave Ohio to Bush.

This time they need to come up with four states. Not likely....but certainly far from impossible.

Why do they want to open the door to Palin's Witchdoctor?

They don't know when to shut up.
Any 5 year old even knows when to quit.

Topic Title: GOP goes ahead with Rev. Wright ads.

The question is, will it work?

McCain doesn't need the ads to win, the election is already his:

10-27-2008 More W.Va. voters say machines are switching votes

In six cases, Democratic votes flipped to GOP

WINFIELD, W.Va. -- Three Putnam County voters say electronic voting machines changed their votes from Democrats to Republicans when they cast early ballots last week.

This is the second West Virginia county where voters have reported this problem. Last week, three voters in Jackson County told The Charleston Gazette their electronic vote for "Barack Obama" kept flipping to "John McCain".

In both counties, Republicans are responsible for overseeing elections. Both county clerks said the problem is isolated.

Shelba Ketchum, a 69-year-old nurse retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital, described what happened Friday at the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield.

"I pushed buttons and they all came up Republican," she said. "I hit Obama and it switched to McCain. I am really concerned about that. If McCain wins, there was something wrong with the machines.

"I asked them for a printout of my votes," Ketchum said. "But they said it was in the machine and I could not get it. I did not feel right when I left the courthouse. My son felt the same way.

Ketchum's son, Chris, said he had the same problem. And Bobbi Oates of Scott Depot said her vote for incumbent Democratic Sen. John D. Rockefeller was switched to GOP opponent Jay Wolfe.

"I touched the one I wanted, Rockefeller, and the machine put a checkmark on the Republican instead," Oates said of her experience Thursday.

Virginia Matheney, one of those voters, said Friday, "When I touched the screen for Barack Obama, the check mark moved from his box to the box indicating a vote for John McCain."

Retired factory worker Calvin Thomas of Ripley said he experienced the same problem.

"When I pushed Obama, it jumped to McCain. When I went down to governor's office and punched [Gov. Joe] Manchin, it went to the other dude.

"After I finished, my daughter voted. When she pushed Obama, it went to McCain. It happened to her the same way it happened to me," Thomas said.

Yeah, shit like issues and what they really stand for is just bullsheit, better to concentrate on talking points about their associates.

I can't imagine anything near this SHIT in England, here it's about the issues and no one really gives a fuck about anything else unless it's criminal and affects the issues.

They need more than 4 states... Of the closest 10 races, he needs all 10. If Obama wins Virginia and McCain wins all the rest below, Obama wins 277 to 261.

Obama's ground campaign needs to convert over from GOTV to "Protecting the Vote."

Its time people staked out these polling sites with explicit instructions to voters to review their on-screen ballot before "clicking" the vote button. According to the officials in W VA there is a summary screen of some sort that allows voters to review their decisions prior to "clicking" the vote button.

This is something I would take a day off to do. This business about screwy voting machines has just got to stop.

DOUBLE CHECK YOUR VOTE!!!

The problem with the Wright tactic is that it is inherently racist. And bear with me, because I hate to play this card. It's just that the only significant difference between Obama's church and preacher, and McCain's and Palin's churches and preachers, is that Obama's church and preacher are black and teach a black-oriented theology.
McCain's religious supporters, Hagee and Falwell, are (or were) quite radical in their own right. They blamed 9/11 as God's punishment to America for being tolerant towards gays. Wright blamed 9/11 as God's punishment to America for racism against blacks. At the same time, Palin's church teaches that terrorism is God's punishment to the Jews for not accepting Christianity.

So we really only have 2 choices here for why McCain would play this game. Either he's throwing rocks from a glass house and is just hoping the rest of us won't notice (what I would like to believe), or he is intentionally playing the race angle here, i.e. white fundie hate churches are a-okay but evangelical black liberation churches are not.

Some people around here called the timing on that quite well.

Still, I voted no because I have not seen enough yet to do an 11th hour switch to McCain and Obama is VERY far ahead with electorals.
