As usual Non Prof John you miss the point, with the GOP house under weeping John, the House will do such an excellent job of fucking up the economy, that the dems will have to say nothing because the GOP will prove it for them.

You are so impatient Non Prof John, the GOP no longer has to use the filibuster to screw up the economy. And in all GOP wisdom, the house is doing a fine job of screwing up any recovery. They are only six months in, in another year or so, it will be surely be GOP mission accomplished, 25% unemployment here we come.

In June 2007 the Democrats were winning nearly every poll.

Of course we shouldn't even look at 2008 since we were dealing with a wide open field and very few people knew the candidates.

Today everyone knows Obama and what he stands for and when he is losing to a candidate that most people don't really know much about then it is a bad sign.

As usual, avoid the facts and ignore. Typical nonprofjohn.

Did you happen to notice all the 2005-07 polls? How the overwhelming majority had Hillary as the Dem nominee? And the Rep nominee was split between Jeb, McCain and Guiliani?

So yeah, your post means nothing. You can be afraid of Obama winning, and hope that the poll is correct, but you have no evidence that it means anything, other then it supports what you desperately want to believe. Of course, in reality, what you want doesn't mean it will happen.

On the other hand, the facts show that early polls mean nothing, and are wrong the overwhelming majority of the time. You see, I posted some real facts about a real election, unlike you posting your hopes and pawning them off as facts.

This is the first head to head poll I have seen, maybe there are others.

I would say this is a bad sign for Obama since Romney is an unknown to a lot of people, especially independents and Democrats.

Obama really needs the economy to turn around or he will end up being Jimmy Carter part 2.
The one advantage he does have is that there are another 3.5 years till the election and that gives a LONG time for the economy to recover.

With the economy going the way it's been, the GOP has a better chance at 2012. When they win 2012, they will of course fail to make things any better, and thus we are back to the Dems in 2016, an the cycle repeats.

I mean really, you post so much, dig up some evidence that shows your poll has any meaning for an election 2 years away. I did, and it shows it means nothing. As I pointed out, you cannot portray your wishes as facts. Picking a random poll and saying "oh oh oh...Obama will lose!!!!" is ridiculous. I think it is safe to say you do not want Obama re-elected. That is your opinion and you are allowed to have it. But trying to spin it as evidence is just 100% wrong.

So post some facts, not your so-called wishes.

And BTW, you posted about these early polls, not others, so don't play the "oh, lets look at other posts". You brought it up, so you defend it. Man up and show some evidence. There is an infinite possibility of things that can happen in the next year and a half. Trying to predict the presidential election now is retarded. Heck, trying to predict it 3 months from the election would be retarded.

If the economy recovers, I think the GOP will have a though time winning the presidency. If the economy continues to tank I think Obama will have a tough time holding office.

Of course, any number of large issues could surface between now and then that would make the economy a poor election predictor.

Democrats won about 70 of those polls.


But as I said before 2008 is not the year to look at since there was no incumbent. The year to look at it 2004, but there isn't as much data available.

This thread is about 2016, not 2012. Ignore PJ's constant cheerleading that the GOP will never ever lose a race anytime (without the Dems cheating at least) and ignore all the extraneous fluff about 2012.

Personally I find the potential GOP class of 2016 potentially a whole lot more interesting than the current class of dwarfs, extremists and cultists-but I guess it will be interesting to see how their PR machine tries to repackage their candidate in a more palatable form.

You did NOT talk about democrats being ahead, you specifically stated Obama is in trouble with Romney ahead. Based on your wishes and one poll which means nothing.

Predicting with much accuracy what will happen a year and a half from now in politics is pretty damn hard. All you can really do is rely on the historical record and make your best guess.

Predicting what will happen five and a half years from now in politics is borderline insanity.
