I was half napping when I got up, went into the kitchen, turned on the light and screamed like a little girl when I saw this..

I live in California and this is by far the biggest indoor bug I've EVER seen. In Vietnam this was typical affair though..

In New York, those fly. yep.

The flying part is what makes them so bad...

Luckily, I haven't seen a live one since we got 2 cats.

Centipedes only suck marginally worse than roaches. During the summer we have very long, hairy looking ones in our basement ... and boy oh boy are they fast.

They are a whole lot bigger on the east coast.
Cockroaches are the only thing that isn't bigger in Texas.

I beg to differ. Seen some HUGE ones in Houston and Austin.

One time in Houston, there was one that flew and actually seemed like it was trying to attack me while it flew. Probably close to 2.5 inches in length and it took me close to an hour to find and kill the fucker lol.

Not big at all. Seen some MONSTERS in FL. When relatives would come to visit or we'd go visit them, their monster roaches would hitch a ride back and we'd have to bomb 'em to keep them from getting a foothold at home in GA. No, the relatives didn't have an infestation... Pest control kept them in check indoors but they would thrive in the outdoor sun rooms, cars, etc. From there they would come hitch a ride home where we had no effective pest control and would have to bomb them ourselves every time we'd visit. Most people in GA have the smaller brown ones but the big flying "water bug" roaches are extremely common in FL and I know for a fact that they can thrive in GA too. It's like having a bird flapping around in your face when they take flight and breeze past you.

Edit: You bagged it. LAWL :D

I guess that answers the spider question. If you're afraid of a little roach, I can only imagine what happened if you went to a girl's room to kill a big, scary spider for her.

This upsets me greatly

Is it a roach? Roaches around here are pale beige color, with longer swept back antennae.

believe me, they are in cali already. as well as in az. in south phoenix growing up, we would keep the drains covered over night so they couldnt come in. part of our pest control was bleaching the drains monthly. nothing like opening the bathroom door first thing in the morning and getting kamikazeed by a 2 inch flying roach. they do make great targets for bb guns and blowguns tho.

It's a rather unimpressive water roach. I've seen them almost twice as big here.

At least it doesn't fly like the ones in the Philippines used to. Plus they were about 3X the size... with mean teeth.
