goose feather pillows as related to by my girlfriend

so today, my girlfriend suddenly realizes that she has bought all these goose feather pillows as well as a goose featherbed, so they must have come from geese at some point. well she decides to wonder if she should feel guilty, as perhaps she killed geese in buying these things, so she wants to know if anyone knows how you get the goose feathers - (in her words) 'did i make the goose unhappy?'
eh, women, perhaps yeeny or baffled can explain this whole thing.....

anyways, how do u get goose feathers exactly?
 
The geese are plucked every summer much in the same way that a sheep is sheared to get the wool. Those feathers will grow back by the fall of the year.

Tell her, that no geese were harmed in the gathering of the feathers.

Tell her that she actually made the geese happy because in the summer they get really really hot and miserable, so the geese farmers use a soft brush to brush out their extra feathers.

So when she buys down-feather products, she's actually making the geese happy.
