Strangely, I've always wanted to own one. They still look like bad ass aircraft to me, even by today's standards. Wonder how much they sell for of if they have replica kits or something.

my thoughts exactly. ive always wanted a radio controlled p51

Here's one..only $1,295,000.00!! http://www.courtesyaircraft.com/N51YS.htm

They are still bad-ass aircraft by any standard -- there aren't too many prop-driven aircraft that can push past 400mph with ease..and this is sixty years later. 😉

Burns over 60 gallons per hour, though..not a cheap ride by any stretch of the imagination.

Very touchy airplanes, from what I've heard. If you're ever fortunate enough to fly one, please don't wreck it.. 😛

mustangs are pretty bad ass, but the F4U was the better plane by the end of the war

once upon a time (1999-2000ish) I used to know a place in Florida that you could by kits to build your own fully functional mustang. The kit's where around 30k without engine. They had a turbo prop engine you could buy from another vender, or you could purchase your own.
