So my girlfriend bought me a D-Link DI-604 4-port router for my birthday. I get it, open it, and plug it in. It runs fine except for the fact it disconnects the LAN side on both of my machines at random times. The only way to fix it is a reset of the router.
I call D-Link and they haven't a clue what the problem was. I had the latest firmware, my WAN side is still up, there were no known issues, and they had never had a similar problem. Their conclusion is that either (a) the router is defective or (b) it's incompatible with my network (I've never heard such BS in my life). They tell me to return the router and get another router altogether. This is when the real fun begins...
I contact GoogleGear and they demand on me paying the 15% restocking fee in addition to paying to ship the product back to them. Does anyone else find the fact that they are trying to charge me for a defective product? It's defective, they're not restocking it, they'll send it straight to D-Link and get their money back for it. The fee is only $7 (cheap router) but it's just the principal. I too have to pay shipping back to GoogleGear. So now I'm out $12, and I have no router.
I've always sworn by GoogleGear and have bought many products from them (and recommend them to people who have also bought many things), but this is truly ridiculous. I will never be ordering from them again and I recommend you do the same if you care about Customer Service in the least.
I don't know, maybe I'm just being stubborn but I don't understand why I should be forced to pay for a defective product. In the end I will be paying 1/4 of the price of the router and will get nothing from it.
