We all know that newegg is the place to get all the athlon t-bred processors, but of recently, many people were getting 1700+ t-bred A processors instead of t-bred B procs.

Link

According to the description, it says the chip id is AXDA1700DUT3C. That is the real stepping of a t-bred b and many people have reported getting t-bred b 2100+ from there as well. If anyone has ordered this from googlegear, can you report the version and stepping you got?

I actually emailed them a few days ago asking if the dutc3 = tbred b. and the reply was, something like "we can't guarenteed stepping and we can't hand pick cpus" even though the description indicates tbredb. that's why i held off.

actually gameve has the tbredbs for $60, a lot cheaper than excaliberpc.

It would be nice to get a good clocking 1700+ t-bred b, but it is risky now. I geuss that justifies paying the extra $40 getting a 2100+.

Where u get it, newegg? excaliburpc? googlegear?

Bought it from somebody. It's used.
The fastest speed I can get from this CPU is 2.4GHz. But not stable for 3D games. For regular use, it is stable.

I took a gamble with NewEgg and ordered a 1700+ for $50. Will let you guys know the results if interested.
As for googlegear... I think it is a gamble as well... I posted a msg asking dman about his purchase @ googlegear which sounds like it is guaranteed t-bred b. Apparently he ordered 2 Retail 2100+ from there and says he has them both T-bred B. He hasn't really answered my post, so it remains to be seen. Anyway, I stuck with NewEgg, but I sure am getting tired of all that "NEW EGG ROCKS" fan boy cheering.
On another note, my friend (not too long ago), fried his 1700+ t-bred A (wasn't one of the lucky ones) from NewEgg, and RMA'd it back to NewEgg. On this RMA he got lucky and got it replaced with a t-bred B. Just thought it was worth mentioning (there is still a chance to get the B).

PS: I am in no way trying to persuade the rest of you to fry your CPU.:D

I agree. I don't think googlegear knows what processor are they really going to ship to you. I have been following prices/part #s of XP1700s. Googlegear had DLCT listed on their site and then a week back they changed to DUCT.

I ordered a 1700+ OEM from Googlegear on Friday and got it yesterday. It was:

AXDA1700DUT3C 9429157270622
JIUHB0311XPMW

Note: When I ordered it, it was listed as AXDA1700DUT3C which is exactly what it turned out to be.

Sorry, I didn't get a PM and I haven't checked the other thread that I posted in, but, indeed both the 2100+ Retails I purchased (a few weeks apart) were Tbird B's. The first one I built ended up going to my S.I.L. for their pc. So, I don't have all the #'s but I did have a post about it here code: DUT3C AIUHB 0301MPMW

The one I have now is code:
axda2100dut3c
9772407262397
aiuhb0306mpmw

Both OC'd well, at default voltage (or less 1.55) I was able to get 2.0 GHz. Didn't try pushing it beyond that.

Caveat: Neither one I could get 166MHz FSB stable in MemTest #5. (even w/ lowest multipliers and slowest memory timings and increased voltage 1.75). The first one had errors (using DDR2100) and this round I'm using DDR 2700 RAM (corsair) but in MemTest #5 it locks up.

Personally, I think it's the motherboard, soltek SL-75MRN but some folks at AMDMB.COM state it's the Nforce2 chipset... I dunno. I'm thinking about ordering an Epox 8rda+ for comparision but then I'll have to ditch the Soltek board on ebay or something and I'm not anxious to get going on that.

NOTE: On the retail CPU's the AMD Included heatsink has some thermal tape, if you use Arctic Silver it's a hassle to remove the tape and apply the grease.

?: Anyone have any good tips for applying Arctic Silver compound, the steps on their website are clear but it's a PITA to get the proper coverage, perhaps someone has a link to an easier method?

Can any of you give your OC experience on these t-bred b? Wanna make sure they are good as the newegg ones as well.

me and my buddy bought the retail 1800+ from google gear. This thing oc's like a monster!

Its the Tbred B.. Voltage default is at 1.5 Cpu ratio at 11.5

currently, all i have done is cranked up the FSB to 185 and left the multplier at 11.5

this thing is running super stable... super cool too

DON'T MISS MY POSTED LINK ABOVE!

I got 12.5 x 136 easy on my 8Kha+ with an AX-7. I was running at 150 but I didn't like the high bus speeds. Look here regarding unlocking: Unlocking TBs

Also see Anandtech OC forum 1700 thread.

UPdate: This is great! I got 155x12.5=1936, XP2400, 37C idle, 512 PC2100 Micron, Sandra says pci bus 39 and AGP bus 78. Default voltage. Never had to unlock it. No case fan, but side of case is open. Wouldn't do 166. Radeon 7500. Maxtor LBA 100. Had to update bios to recognize throughbred.

I too got a t-bred "b" about a week and a half ago. I've had it up to 2.2 with my SK-7 but it wasn't completely stable. Running it @ 1.83 now for RAM reasons.
