ugh, both steel droid rom for dx1 and the wizard miui rom for dx2 both are not supported apparently.

i guess this only works for rooted phones with stock roms?

can't you just go to voice.google.com? i guess it doesn't have nice notifications etc.

Yes, and you can use the official Google Voice app, which does have notifications.

The only thing this app does is allow you to send and receive texts through whatever texting app you have. Other than pop ups not working, it seems to integrate well. Google Voice isn't very customizable and has a strange way of threading conversations. Handcent and other SMS apps let you customize their appearance to a great degree.

yeah but those texts come to your native apps are actual texts. if you have an inactivated phone you cant do it.

so you have to use the gv app, but if you have it set to native texts (so your reg phone still gets texts) then the gv app wont notify you of texts, it will just show them.

i found a work around though. first, set your inactivated phone's gv app to get texts through gv. then, turn the wifi off. then go to your computer and your google voice account, and set your phone to receive texts. now go back to your phone and turn wifi on.

as long as you dont mess with the settings while the phone is on, it wont sync those settings you changed. its been working so far.

Quick question about this app. Does it let you originate messages using the stock app and send it through GV. Right now if I receive a SMS, the stock app gets it and if I reply using the stock app it does go through GV. However, if I originate a new conversation using the stock app it sends it through my carrier.

Thanks in advance.

So this app (Which version to use? The free or paid? https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=MDR+Tools,+Inc or another app?) allows you to do texts over wifi/data plan with any SMS app?

Otherwise if you already have Unlimited texting you can just set Google Voice to send texts through your cells number displayed as your G-Voice number and use any SMS app that way. Right?

So you can use like those Walkie Talkie apps (Go SMS has the feature) and such have it displayed as your G-Voice number?

i have gv sends me an email when i get a text, then i setup a mailbox fetching on the phone so i know when i get a sms

I'd like to do this but am not comfortable with this app and its abundant permissions or giving it my Google username and password. However, I've developed for Android myself and if this developer could accomplish this, I wonder if I could as well. If so I would be willing to open source it for everyone. Are there any other Android devs around? I only know of the one unofficial Google Voice API, I wonder if this app uses that or another technique.
