Google Voice not going away after all. Obi users say yeaaaa.

Recall that Google Voice was going to end XMPP support back in May as part of their Hangout push. May came and went but my Obi/Google Voice setup was still working. Cool, but I was always wondering if today would be the day they pulled the plug.

Just saw that that Obi and Google have officially worked something out and GV will continue with no end in sight.
I imagine others will benefit as well, but I only saw an official statement from Obi.

Hangout looks interesting.

I just want a better client for hangouts on windows than the default Chrome-based client. I love the stuff you can actually do once you start a hangout. I hate the app that gets you to where you can start one.

I'm still really surprised that iOS has a better GoogleVoice app than Android.

yeah, the app sure sucks, but now I can finally say goodbye to Vonage... have a long way to go, transfer my vonage number to AT&T then AT&T to Google... but it will all be worth at the end. Already ordered the device.
