will this work with international numbers?

Nope. I'm in Canada and had to do a little work to activate my account.

I had to use a US proxy to click the email invite link.

I then had to pick a US phone number.

I then had to activate using a US phone number (US SkypeIn number I have).

So I'm in Vancouver, have a GV number from NYC, and have a SkypeIn number from Rhode Island...

I'll play around with this and then pay $10 to get my number changed to a Vancouver number when they offer it. Hopefully that'll be soon.

 A fellow ATer hooked me up with an invite, and once I found a number I was happy with I signed up. Seems very cool but as of yet I have no real use for it. My brother didn't think it was going to work right so he called me on my new #, and it went right through without a hitch. There was no extra delay or anything that we could tell. Solidly done Google/Grand Central

If anyone has an open invite, I would really appreciate it. It sucks to have to have people remember my school, home, work, and cell number. Google's solution is clearly superior.

So I just found this and signed up...does anyone have an estimated turn around on this?

Also...do you pick the total number? area code as well?

2 to 3 weeks at this point. You pick area code, and generally have a choice of exchange & number in higher populated areas. Yes, you pick the WHOLE number (out of a sublist of choices).

Got an invite last night, but I already have an account so if anyone is interested I can send it their way.

I'm a little confused as to how this works. If I'm linking a US Verizon # to my google voice account, can I make free calls to the US when I'm in Canada or is it still considered airtime (i.e., I would be hit with international roaming charges)?

Ditto...anyone that is kind enough to have an extra invite I would love it if you aren't using it.

Thanks,
Lee

I don't know about an official one, but there's one out called GVMobile which is pretty great. It's $2.99 though IIRC.
