ayone else recognize that as the EXACT same recording of transsiberian ocrhesrtra's canon in D major....

Uh because IT IS.

I hate to revive a dying thread, but I've been trying to find the original song that this guy is playing to since the thread was posted. I looked up Trans-Siberian Orchestra, but their version of Canon ("Christmas Canon Rock"?) is much slower, has vocals and much less emphasis on the guitar. Anyone know where I can find this guy's version? Does one exist?

is he really playing or is he just pretending?

i believe he's playing it... and for teh record, my comment about the guy butchering the song and sucking was a joke to mislead and make the impact of the video more dramatic.

The playing is definitely real. All the vibratos, sweeps, and tapping are sync'd way too perfectly for it to be fake. I think it'd actually be harder to fake than to play it.

BTW, this guy seems to have a similar playing style to Paul Gilbert. Download some of Paul's stuff and you'll see the similarities.

Read the Google video description. WTF does the fact that guy is Japanese have anything to do with this?

it was "descriptive", thus the "description". It "described" part of the video.

Ok, techboy, you sound like you know what you're talking about when it comes to guitars. I'm looking for an electric guitar funny enough. What would you suggest? I am poor and I was browsing of at musician's friend website and saw a few $100-$200 guitars and some of them also come with the amped speaker. Are those any good or are they toys?
