Google Toolbar No Longer Blocking My Popups

For months, Google's toolbar was nailing everything in sight. Now, plenty of pop ups are getting through. A friend spent some time on my comp when I wasn't around and I think he went to some websites or screwed some stuff up or whatever. What should I download to fix this or run or something? Thanks

Hehe -- actually, that's probably the best all around answer to this problem...

But most likely, you've been hijacked. Check out Schadenfroh's awesome malware thread for instructions for fixing it.

When you get around to downloading and installing and running hijackthis, feel free to post the log here BEFORE FIXING ANYTHING and we'll help you sort through the bugs...

Only thing with Firefox is that not all pages are going to look right or work at all. I've seen too many complaints of that nature to bother with it.

I just use IE6 with a few choice plugins.

That's because those pages are poorly coded.

Try some programming CSS for IE and I'll guarantee that you'll have less hair after that.

If you're using Windoze, there is a firefox extension that allows firefox to deal with those sites. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with Linux yet.

Amazingly it seems like those pages are getting more and more rare, at least in my experience.
Even my online bank works fine these days, it was the last one that didn't up until they fixed it ~6 months ago or so.
