@DZero Where do you live?
In EU (e.g. Germany), Ultra price graph and A5X graphs don't ever cross paths. Not even remotely close. An old out of warranty beat up ultra is and always has been significantly more expensive.

And S24 Ultra has had a significantly higher average selling price compared to S23 Ultra (~1000€ vs ~850€), as well as higher deal price and higher max price.

Pixel 9 Pro XL took a month to depreciate the same as S24 ultra in 3 months.

Everybody who I know owned a Pixel said performance is "fine". And most had modem/battery issues at some point, and hated the insanely slow charging.
So when Google says they will focus on improving what matters most, by cutting the SOC performance, I would be hesitant to believe it until they actually deliver. So far their track record in SOC and support and availability is awful.
In Peru. Funny story seems that the resale value of Android phones are way lower than expecting:
Note: Sorry if this is in Spanish, take in care that I'll translate some of the parts when needed and the price change is:

USD 1 = S/ 3.73
A55 - New - S/ 1699 - USD 455.5

Now, about the S23 Ultra..
Officially we have the refurb pages, in which indeed, cost over the double:

S/ 3728.76 - USD 999.7

However there is the Facebook Marketplace in which the average Joe tends to buy new stuff and sell the old one, you can see from S/ 1699 - USD 455.5 to S/ 1999 - USD 535.9

Note: the S/ 2 offer is in fact S/2000 - USD USD 536

Indeed, Peru officially can sell the items very expensive, but sometimes a 2nd hand can be found by the price of a brand new one.

Hope if this information helps. Thanks for the read. Notice that this is December 2024, is likely that once S25 launches, the S23 series will become cheaper.

"Seeing percent increases like 62% for a Pixel 7a, 31% for a Pixel 8, and 32% for a Pixel 9 highlights a significant improvement across the board."

Let's hope this also improves Tensor G5 performance

On the one hand if you own one you probably like seeing this, on the other hand you have to wonder how in the world the drivers were so substandard before that such a big performance gain was possible.

GPU performance on tensor was not a priority. Stability and having a fixed validation target was higher on the list. I suspect that it'll be a while before they update again.

Wait... that could mean that also Mediatek processors will get benefied too?

It's N3E vs Samsung if it ain't got efficiency gain Google should be embarrassed about it.
I only buy Pixel to run grapheneOS anyway all I want is better battery life good display and efficiency of the device

Aparently is a demo unit.
There is another benchmark:

The issue is the GPU. Seems that won't get more scores due the unoptimization. CPU wise might be acceptable

Not so sure about that at this price point. It going to be barely faster than Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which is not exactly a great achievement... Also if they are using PowerVR GPU... compatibility issues are definitely going to be a thing. Genshin Impact for example:

I think there's something wrong with the GPU driver. GPU frequency is too low in the OpenCL bench.

Considering that 1100 Mhz is the clock is using... the max score they can achieve would be: 9,019.
realistically could end into the 8.5K tier, that is interesting, is on par with Dimensity 8300... with the first drivers that allows max potential... and without optimization, so with that, expecting 20% more... so it can end into the 10K territory at the end.

New units are out and...

1755789639779.png

CPU wise is optimized and is great, on par with SD 8 Gen 3 if not a little better.
the issue as always was GPU... is just using brute force, but with the drivers could get to 800K, enough to be decent.

PS: this is an optimized Kirin 9020 score (Harmony OS Next). CPU wise got defeated but GPU wise optimization matters. Google has a LOT to job to do. And reintroduce Power VR on the game again.1755789865821.jpeg
