Google Sheets: compare columns between two sheets?

So I'm trying to do this at work, and haven't a clue what I'm doing on this. I've tried some formulas but haven't had any success.

So, I have a list of location names in Column A in Sheet1, and a shorter list pulled from the same names in Column A in Sheet2.

In Column D on Sheet1, I want it to say "yes" if the location name in Sheet1:A is found somewhere in Sheet2:A.

Thoughts?

I had no clue where to put this, so I just decided OT was a good starting point. Mods, go ahead and move the thread if deemed necessary.

Your work doesn't provide you with Excel?

I wish there were a reference guide that detailed the differences between Excel and Sheets, that listed the functionality that is different and why.
I have always wondered why a certain simple function wasn't present in Sheets and assumed it had to do with patents or licensing.

Does Google license anything from Microsoft that they use in Sheets?

It would be very interesting to know.

They do, but we don't have any paid-for collaboration options. They ended up choosing to use Sheets for when we all need to view and edit the same document, live. Could probably do the same with OneDrive and the free Excel Online, but they have simply adopted Google's offerings and use that for all collaboration.

I'd love for them to use different collaboration... the new tools within Office 2016 are awesome.

It's the same story for other spreadsheet programs such as OpenOffice and LibreOffice and whatnot. They all have differences. There is a standard way how to approach what we know as a spreadsheet, but then there are differences in how they proceed. I am sure there are certain copyrights for how the software works so nobody can make a perfect clone.

It would be interesting to see a comparison between the other free alternatives and Google Sheets, see how much all the free alternatives differ compared to one another.
