Google "Search Suggestions"??

What is up with these? You start typing what you are searching for in Google, and it comes up with some suggestions? How does this work? I typed in "How do you put..." and the first result that came up was "How do you put on a condom?"

Is that the most popularly searched thing whenever someone searches for "how do you put..."?
