Google really sucks now

I tried signing a friend up for picasa but now Google forces users to first signup to Google Plus garbage. Picasa was a nice little site before Google ruined it with their Google Plus garbage.


Sigh....Flickr maybe?


PS: I still hate the new Gmail !!!!!!!!!!!!

When you sign up for any Google product, you're creating a Google account which is used with all of their products. They're just showing more UI to promote Plus. It's nothing new.

I had the same problem, but after signing up you can disable the google+ account and use picasa as usual. I had to do that when my mom was going to use picasa.

Picasa's standalone app doesn't require anything extra to go with it and is pretty good. E-mail software such as Mozilla Thunderbird is completely unaffected by Google deciding to change how their website looks

Despite Google touting great user numbers for Google+, I've found it a dead land. None of my friends use it consistently. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and other more hip social media are much better.

I hate Google for forcing + down our throats.

Google Plus is awesome if you're a part of the tech community. It's pretty quiet if you're an average person.

Yeah, its sorta like a more professional Facebook, if you've got a field that uses it.

Funny, I see the people bitching about how Facebook went to shit because they let everyone on there bitch about how Google doesn't have anyone. Plus could have been the good alternative social network, like Facebook would be for your mom and shit, but use plus for your closer friends/school/work network, but Google was stupid.

I think Google really f'ed themselves with Wave and trying to force the convergence of their stuff. If they had just made it optional but show people how powerful it can be, they'd have been lauded, but instead they forced people to have to do it so people hated it. They haven't done enough to make it worthwhile so its all floundered other than people that already used their stuff (like GMail, Picasa).

It took me like a year to finally create a second GMail account for the forced Youtube conversion (where you had to sign in with Google account.

A lot of the changes can be corrected if you go to the extension store and download Chrome apps. I got Picasa back to the old way because of them.

G+ is free
Gmail is free
Google Drive is free

They are not cutting down on freebies. The turned two things into one. It makes sense to do.

If you don't want to use G+, don't. It still stores your pics the same way it always did. But now G+ gives you an instant upload option. Tie that in with Google Drive and you have a great way to store photos and files online.

and nothing has changed.
Google+ is google account just a new name.
you dont actually have to use the social part of google+ if you dont want to but Picassa is tied to it for instant uploads.

i have no idea, but when they switched from google maps to google plus, all the reviews my patients have left all disappeared. also, when i do a search for my area for my profession, i don't show up anywhere at all.

I'm not sure what the end point is but I know it's for our own good. Google just loves us and wants us to have all the world's content for free. They can't have any negative reasons behind this move, they're motto is "do no evil"
